Laremy Tunsil stays at starting LG for second team period. Blocked Jason Jones into the turf. It is time.

I just witnessed the most impressive pass pro display by a Miami Dolphins LG in a long time.

Laremy Tunsil whipping Jordan Phillips now.

Laremy Tunsil has gotten more first team work this practice than any other during camp. It is time.

RB Thomas middle. Couldn't tell if he made end zone but got close. Drill over. Nice job by Tunsil & offense.

T'hill likey TD to WR Whalen v. McCain...Tunsil does well v. Jones...nice series by Tunsil. Could be the end for Thomas

Good to see the progress

He also gave up 2 or 3 sacks . . . but just seeing him getting the most reps at 1st team LG today was high five worthy. He's the best we have got on this roster, time to gel him in between Albert and Pouncey.

Tunsil has en edge to him. I don't give a flip that he has missed assignments. That's par for the course for a rookie, switching positions no less. Get him reps and he will learn. Defensive linemen will not liking go against him, whereas they must salivate like Pavlov's dogs to go against Dallas Thomas.

Dallas Thomas is soft as a pillow and has no motor. Thomas at his angriest, meanest, is still less nasty than Tunsil at his nicest.

Honestly, I'd imagine every defensive coordinator, before playing the Dolphins, has a talk to his front 4 about how to get Thomas off balance and use strength to push him into the QB. All the strength training in the world is not going to help Dallas if he can't get the proper leverage off the snap and/or after a move is being put on him.

I can accept missed assignments in a rookie. That's coachable. The killer is lack of talent (insert DT's picture).

Tunsil was not only regarded as the best line prospect in the draft, but potentially the best one in the last 4 or 5 drafts.

Missing assignments...its practices, the fact that he is hanging with the likes of Suh shows that he has what it takes to be an NFL starter. I am excited to see this kid grow this season...thank you asshole who released his damning photos...and I say that in the most selfish Dolphins fan way.

100% this

We know that as a rookie who has switched positions, he's going to miss some things. It sucks, but so does watching the LG get pushed back on rollerskates one out of every four snaps.

Meanwhile, we hear that he is actually competing with, and blocking Suh. That's not something we usually hear about from Dolphins practice.

Agree. Plus, the fact he is not completely getting beat like rented going against Suh is a good thing.

I can't help but wonder who is more delicate; Dallas T or J Martin?? ROFL!!?

i think we all knew it was just a matter of time before he replaced DT in the starting line up. Good that the coaches made him earn it with play.

Would love to see our whole OL settled before the 3rd exhibition game and I think we are getting close to that.

What I like from him is that he can lose initial control on a pass block set and still have the strength to fight back. Dallas Thomas does not. This was evident on the play earlier in camp where Tunsil punched Chris McCain. McCain had initially won and pushed him back but Tunsil ended up recovering and winning the battle. McC is not the biggest guy but then Dallas Thomas was bull rushed by a 266 lb DE in NY.

from Barry Jackson who stole my title (Tunsil making his move) :)

The Dolphins held off making Laremy Tunsil a starter from the outset of camp, but the rookie first-round draft pick appears closer than ever to becoming one.

On Tuesday, Tunsil received his most first-team work at left guard in any of the team’s 14 practices to date. Dallas Thomas, who started the preseason opener, received just a few first-team reps at left guard. And Tunsil performed well during his extended look Tuesday.

“I like what he’s doing,” coach Adam Gase said of Tunsil. “I like the fact he’s giving everything he has and trying to make sure mentally he’s on the same page because there are two other guys counting on him.”

The Dolphins haven’t wanted to rush Tunsil because “this is a league where confidence does matter," Gase said. "I’ve seen rookies before, you throw him in and be like, well, he’s got to play. And two years later, everyone is calling for his head. We’re going through the process we need to go through.”

The Dolphins still must make a decision at right guard, where Billy Turner opened with the starters Tuesday, as usual, but Thomas and Jermon Bushrod also received some first-team work.

Branden Albert was given the day off Tuesday, but the Dolphins split first team left tackle reps between Ulrick John and Sam Young instead of moving Tunsil to tackle – something they had done earlier in camp. That suggested a desire to have Tunsil focus on guard.

Plenty of people on this forum has discuss this at length.

Agree. I'm with the group that likes how coach Gase has make Tunsil earn his position instead of just handing it to him. Got to boost his confidence as well knowing he worked hard to beat out a 3 year vet even if that vet was DT. Now let's get the RG position settled and let this unit play together the next three practice games going into the season opener at Seattle.
