We've turned the ball over only twice this year - once on Penny's interception vs. the Gliders in the waning seconds, and the other on Bess' kickoff return fumble against the Chargers.

We are playing tremendous, mistake-free football. The potential here, if we keep it up, is HUGE. Why? Well, up to this point, we only have three takeaways. We could and should have a lot more - the fumble recoveries and picks will come, as they did in the pre-season.

What does this mean? We're already handling [good] teams without getting too many takeaways - in other words, teams aren't making huge offensive mistakes, we're just stuffing them. Just imagine what happens when we actually start stripping the ball once or twice per game, or ball-hawking a bit more in the secondary. Again, it all starts with taking care of your own business, as Sparano says, and if we keep that up, look for this defense to not only keep opposing teams from first downs and scores, but increasing our turnover differential as well. When you're playing like we are at the moment, all you need is one turnover in your favor. The Chargers didn't turn the ball over once (I'm not counting the 4th&goal) - imagine if they had.

Great observation, and more reason to be optimistic. It also makes the last two wins even more impressive. We didn't just get lucky and beat a team who gave us the game but we won games with better execution.
I feel great about the week being the week we start getting the turnovers. Matt already has thrown 5 picks this year and didn't even play Sunday. So he has the ability to put it out there. Combine that with the pressure we are putting on the QB and if I CBs can catch I think this might be the week.
Houston will be hungry for that first win and they have been playing alot better than their record shows but if we can score on them first I like our chances. This will be a huge test for Jake playing Mario but if we can get a lead it will make it a lot easier. The most important thing is to keep on being efficient with the ball and not give them an early easy score.

I guess the big question is really whether or not we can start getting those turnovers. Like I said, they came in pre-season, but we haven't seen them much in the regular season.

The focus has probably been on more fundamental stuff, like making a sure tackle or sure deflection, rather than going for a strip or a pick.
