Sparano said the Dolphins find themselves fighting for their playoff lives at 7-7 instead of being 9-5 as they were a year ago because of turnovers and big plays.

Miami committed four turnovers to two for the Titans, including three interceptions by Chad Henne and a fumble by running back Ricky Williams, his fourth in two games (two lost).

Last year the Dolphins led the NFL with a plus-17 turnover ratio, compared to minus-7 this season, which is ranked 25th.

"It's ridiculous, it's very critical,'' Sparano said. "Looking at it right now, we're about 10 more interceptions and 10 more fumbles more right now than we were last year at this time.

this is a very crucial part of the game that has been over-looked alot this season. the turnovers have to stop, especially if this team wants to be playoff "contenders", and i use that word loosely.

Three words for you guys. Re-sign Ronnie Brown!!!!! The man has 8 lost fumbles in 60 games and one of those the defender had to break his foot to cause the fumble. Ricky is NOT the answer so many on this board have come to believe. Why, I have no idea. I love Ricky, both as a player and as an individual, but Ronnie is the man. We need his successor firmly in place before we let him go.

Give him 3-4 year contract and start drafting RB in the middle rounds. Ronnie also blocks better than ANY starting HB in the league and will give Henne more time on 3rd down and long situations. He also catches the ball way better than any RB on our team and is great after the catch (hello....Buffalo in 05 and in the playoffs last year in Baltimore just to name a couple amazing receiving plays by Ronnie) therefore serving as an essential outlet receiver anytime Henne needs someone to bail him out.

Sorry to hijack this thread. I'm not trying to turn it into a Ronnie Brown thread. I just notice a big difference in our team without him in there and firmly believe his absence has A LOT to do with the turnovers.

MJD has something to say about that.

No way dude. One pancake block on Shawn Merriman and one on Channing Crowder (both in the open field and both guys looking the other way) does not make him a better blocker than Ronnie on 3rd and long. I'm talking about pass blocking and you're talking about run/run-after-the-catch blocking. One has to do with a team's turnover ratio and the other does not.

EDIT: I made that post before you had the youtube link up there. I was going off of memory with that Merriman block. He wasn't blind-sided like Crowder was earlier this year by MJD, but it also wasn't traditional pass protection. He continued with his run after the play-action and bowled him over going full speed. A great block nonetheless, but MJD has a much more compact body and does not block well within the confines of a passing pocket like Ronnie.

well my point is, ronnie is not the best pass-blocking RB in the league.

And you gotta love that block on shawn marriman, who has been exploited this season after coming off the "juice".

I think its funny that our scedule was so easy last year, we tied a record for fewest turnovers, every trick play worked, and no injuries

This year we play the hardest sched, have a terrible nack for turning it over and not forcing turnovers, and every trick play has failed and we have been bitten by the injury bug.

Yet we probably wont get in the playoffs but should of won a couple of the games we lost. I think we're going to be just fine. We can win without talent.. Wait till we get some.
