you guys ever think taht maybe we throw short routes b/c our wide receivers are slow as hell and dont complete there routes in time due to that so the QB throws it early? our WR's are the slowest things i have seeen acception to CC.

when booker ran a reverse 2 times, he got tackled by SHOEBEL!!! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD meaning he was getting out run as it was a 2 yard run only and the first time, i swear i thought it was a dead turtle moving. thats how bad he is.

I mean c'mon guys, they are the slowest ****s i ahve ever seen! maybe if they were quick, theyw ould run routes faster and ever run it creating more SPACE b/c they get away from the DB's faster meaning they are open as oppose to being covered.

I think this would help us out tremendously.

I understand they don't have top notch speed, but have you ever heard of Cris Carter? Oronde Gadsden? Not exactly burners, but they (and many, many more) found ways to get open and make plays, in both short and deep routes.

And Booker isn't as slow as you think.

In my opinion we have one of the slowest offenses in the NFL....Almost every offense I have watched are quicker off the snap....We seem to lag behind and therefore have no life in our offensive production....I do believe though that some of the problem lies with the offensive schemes as well....

Miami was highly effective when they targeted Booker this year...

55 catches 90 times targeted (61.1% completion) 747 yards 13.6 YPC

and Welker...

67 catches 100 times targeted (67% completion) 687 yards 10.3YPC

but then there is Chambers...

59 catches 154 times targeted (38.3% completion) 677 yards 11.5 YPC

Booker and Welker were pretty solid as #2 and #3. Our problems lie in that our #1 puts up numbers a practice squad player would be ashamed of.

YUP YUP ! I couldnt of put it a better way !
We need a TRU #1
We need Dwaynne Jarrett or Gin cause russell most likely will be long goneee

If you think our current group of WR are slow, you must not have been a fan during the Jimmy Johnson era.

Chambers may not have had the greatest year, but he isnt slow. Matter of fact he is pretty fast

is there a posibility that C.J.(Calvin johnson) falls to the 9 pick:wink:

Didnt Booker lead the league for receivers with plays over 40yds??? Chambers is fast. Im not so sure speed is the problem. Our biggest problem is we lack a QB with ability to deliver the ball accurately downfield. Compound that with an avg pass blocking line and it makes getting the ball deep to receivers tough. Of course the receivers can take credibility themselves and say they should execute better. It is a team thing. Im not sure getting a #1(as you fantasy and madden players might call it) is the thing we should be concerned about right now. Chambers has nothing to prove as far as being capable of pro bowl numbers. Whether or not he steps up and attains them is another story, but not counting on him to do so is not what we should do. Let him keep his job and give him an opportunity to come through for us. I think he's earned that. And when you consider how badly we need to improve other aspects of our team I dont know how you can think of not trusting him with the job. Face it Chambers is and will be our (#1). It is up to him to produce.

IMO he will. IF we get a QB and maybe a lineman or two that can start and/or add depth. Ricky is coming back and he's a top 10 back. Ricky is the main reason we won our last 6 in 2005. Ricky is the guy that wouldve won us a bowl in the year he lead the league in rushing if Fielder couldve connected on that key deep ball off play action just once per game. His abilities will give that opportunity to someone this year that hopefully isnt on our roster right now.

Why we throw short routes.

Having faster WR's would help. What would really help is having a left side OL who could hold a block long enough for the QB to give our WR's a chance to get loose. Another thing would be having WR's who could create space(seperation) so they would have room to catch a pass. Thirdly, having WR's and TE's who would actually hold onto the ball.
I think the first thing... left side OL hurts number two and three because then the QB just slings the ball instead of being able to wait for the slot WR play to get past the LB covering and get into the open gap not covered well by the safety. The QB also can't put touch on the ball or air under the ball because it will be picked off.
So what do we do? Get a big LT that will give the QB time and help protect the guard we're grooming, Joe Toledo. next Draft a tall WR that runs like a gazelle that will help take pressure off the other WR's and make the safeties get back out of the box area. Run plays that create space on the outside. like sets that curl and protect the wide out pass and feature a blocker. Run plays that often stretch the field and also run the ball when it looks like a pass play, keep the defense off balance.
Yes run plays that Martz would run...I am not saying hire him, but steal a few plays that helped him have that explosive offense. Get aggressive in free agency for a new LB, CB's, and a knock out safety. Thats my two cents.
