Tweets of interest 8/9

i don't care what the message was...it was assinine...and had long been out for the season as a result sparano would have been roasted...but now it sounds like there's lingering effects to deal with...

just the definition of a dumb decision...but playing with a torn labrum is dumb also...we do dumb things

if he turns into tony boselli like career we'll know who to blame...the oline "guru"

I said that the other day and the uproar was intense!

Jake's had minor knee issues since his days in Ann Arbor. As a sophomore he missed a lot of time because of it. Nothing overly serious.

Not sure I ever understand this argument. He could have been hurt on the very first play of that preseason game or the last play of the first regular season game, injuries happen but because you feel you can blame Tony for playing him too long it is his fault when he got injured??

Why risk him in a useless game though? At the time he was already a pro-bowler. Why risk an injury in a meaningless game against a bunch of guys who are about to get cut?

It's about playing percentages. Sure he could have gotten hurt in any game but why expose him unnecessarily? There is really nothing to have been gained by him playing against scrubs but potentially a lot to lose. Which came damn close to happening.

you don't understand that you don't risk your starters against scrubs who work 9 to 5 s for the rest of their lives in the final preseason game??? well...my friend...not sure i can help ya

the general rule is in the first preseason game starters play a series or 2 up to a quarter the 2nd game they play almost a half...the 3rd game which is the regular season dress rehearsal they play into the 2nd half or til the end of the 3rd quarter...the 4th preseason game you play mostly your cuts and the last guys on the 53...not your all pro tackle in the 2nd quarter cause you want to send a message...

there's exceptions obviously...but you don't run your all pro left tackle out there against the oppositions 3rd string to risk injury in the final preseason game...most teams rest their impact players in the final game...all risk no reward

what's the message anyways??? this o is good against non nfl caliber talent??? awesome

It's football and guys get hurt even in practice. Knowing Long he probably ASKED to stay in to work on something. Mute point. He got hurt and now we're dealing with it. I swear if it rains tomorrow some of you guys would blame Tony.

~~~ GOOOO FINS ~~~
I wonder if Tony opted to play Long in that game because his buddy Garrett wanted to give a particular pass rusher or two reps against an elite tackle. Sparano was talking yesterday or the day before in his presser how coaches make those sorts of arrangements. Either way, yeah it's pretty damning, just would like to think there was a minor, still inexcusable, reason for it.
Garrett wasn't even the coach, he was the O-coordinator. Wade Phillips was the coach.
mute point that you played your all pro left tackle vs the oppositions 3rd string in the final preseason game and risked injury??? yeah...ok
lmao
I'm going to have to seek some confirmation on this. It runs a little counter to what I'd been told.
If the *knee* is the problem, then this is very damning indeed for Tony Sparano. Jake Long sprained his MCL playing in meaningless preseason action I believe during the 4th preseason game of 2010. Nobody thought the starters should still be in, least of all proven ones like Jake Long, but Sparano kept him in and he ended up hurting his knee because of it. He played the entire season with it. If he's done permanent damage to it...so help me...
You're wrong. Finheaven posters who want to blissfully pretend that nothing that happens in preseasons matters thought he shouldn't be out there. The fact of the matter is, the offense under Henne was downright terrible in all of its preseason action to that point. Terrible doesn't go away on its own so Tony kept them out there to get more work. It wasn't unreasonable, the only problem I have with it is that no matter how much work they got, the offense sucked last year.
On that note, i expect Henne to see considerable amount of action Friday night. I know its only the 1st preseason gm, the entire league is on the same page (w/o team OTAs) but in order to find our answer at qb, i'd say Henne play at least the 1st quarter and then some. If anything, to develop timing and continuity with his targets. Im also looking forward to seeing Moore's action. For each to play a half would be what i'd like to see. With both players vying for the #1 spot, im hoping to see the competition in full force this Friday.
This is one of the dumbest comments of all time it speaks to how little you and anyone who thanks it knows about football! The final preseason game is a chance for guys who will be Walmart Greeters the following week to impress someone enough to earn a spot on the roster or practice squad. They are going all out to get noticed and taking risk a starter just won't. You know what happens? Your ****ing all pro left tackle, you decided to make the foundation of your rebuild gets his god damn knee rolled up and over a year later you are still dealing with it! Jake Long was already a 2 time PROBOWLER and 1 time First Team All Pro! WTF did he have to prove? What a stupid ****ing statement! He was out there because the moron you and a few others chose to defend regardless of how stupid his actions really are couldn't stop tinkering with the oline! So on the eve of the season they had no continuity.
I swear to god some people refuse to hold Sparano accountable for anything! Oh by the way if it helps Sparano admitted he was wrong and never should have had Long out there! Don't believe me go to the tape the next play they were all benched!
if there is some damage, how does one know it did not happen during season, being as everyting is hush hush?
it looks like a fishing day for the haters.
Looks like another day for the HOMERS to stick their head and the sand and pretend they have a real football coach!
Chris Clemons has returned to his regular role with the starting secondary.
