Twenty Three Missed Tackles

I think the short week contributed to the overall sloppiness of that game. We missed tackles all over the field. The Bengals WRs were dropping passes like they were allergic to the ball. There was a commercial during the game that had a ball moving in slow motion to a Bengals receiver, and as the ball neared his hands, the commercial cut to black. I'm sure it was supposed to be dramatic, but all I could think was "doink!" as I imagined the ball bouncing off his stone mitts.

When I read your title I was thinking that was just on the one TD run by Bernard :chuckle: I think Bernard has a way of upping the missed tackles total for any defense. But yeah we have been on the bad side all season. Another factor last night was the defense was tired in the second half and it showed through their missed tackles.

Wheeler is a liability and has been all season....no instincts, can't tackle and is awful in coverage.

I believe that IF the draft would have come before FA, as it should, he would not have been signed.

Last night, our D had TWENTY THREE missed tackles. That's hard to believe from any pro team. Grimes led the way with 6, Wheeler had 4, Jones had 3, and most chimed in. We have 66 for the year, not good, but last night was especially bad.

Grimes has offset some with VG coverage, and his pick 6. Not so for Wheeler or Jones, who have been major disappointments this year.

Cinci had 93 plays, with 65 being average but, how the hell can we miss so many tackles. Fascinating that we won.

Only 23? Seemed like we had that many on that long TD run by Gio alone.

Seriously though that's a lot of missed freaking tackles. Has Miami missed anywhere near that many tackles in a game before this year? I know we've been bad but last night seemed extraordinarily bad in that regard.

Are you sure? Grimes missed him twice all by himself on that play.

Yeah, could be. I gotta admire the little 5'8" Grimes for continuing on that play, don't know of many who would have. Grimes is the Ultimate Warrior.

Yeah, for the year (including the 23 last night) we have 66.

We all want to dissect O's and D's but, it all comes down to the basic blocking and tackling to win. I think the Immortal Saint Vince said that, as well as ya gotta beat the guy in front of you.

I believe because of the new CBA.....shorter practices, less full contact and so on...is the villian pertaining to the lousy tackling in the NFL.

GRIMES WAS A FREEKIN WARRIOR last night.

Watch the game. Many of those missed tackles were because of supreme EFFORT on his case. Yes, he slipped several times and lost his foundation. Twice he was pushed off by the WR -- and must have been slick. But the man played ball last night. Huge, huge game from Grimes. And not just reflected on stat sheet. He kept Miami in it w. key plays and the incredible pick six. Not many DBs make that play.

He's a prime time player. One of the PLAYMAKERS on this team. And of course, not a drafted playmaker, lol. Those are few and far between, lol.
