Two Dolphin Assistants leave

They were saying on the radio that there was a coach on staff that was really disliked by all but saban. Was Coley it?

James Coley might be missed but I'm not sure about Smart. The secondary was inconsistent under Smart and most anyone brought in would be a step up.

In some weird way, I'm releaved he's gone.

I just hope the fans can learn from this experience and somehow temper expectations this time around.

I've been watching replays of Cowher's tenure.... 15 years. And there was a lot of ups and downs during that time. Cowher is regarded as a Hall of Fame coach not so much about 1 or 2 single victories... but due to success over a long period of time. Continuity is the key.

And, I really think that's what we are missing: loyalty and stability.

Honestly, I'm tired of changing coaches and always wondering "is this the guy"?

It's not about each guy that walks into the door being "the guy". It's about the entire organization remaining dedicated to the idea of success over a long period of time. That's why Shula was great. Sure, he won SuperBowls, but not every year. Not every decade.

The SuperBowls are the icing. But, what we need right now... is the cake.

For too long we have lack consistancy. We need a young up and coming coach that will stick with us, while at the same time possesses the tools necessary to make this team successful. I say the best men for that job are Cameron, Whisenhunt, Rivera, or maybe even Mora. I like the idea of Cowher but not at the expense of our draft picks. :dolphins:

You know, There will never be another Shula for coach, yet we still try to find one. There will never be another Marino, and we still try to get that replacement.

My point is that our expectations of their replacements are extremely high. We want what we were used to. Does that also go for our winning tradition?

Scott O'Brien. He was I believe called a "quality control coach", and susposedly was just kind of Saban's right hand man who did all sorts of spying and dirty work and was apparently a real jerk.
