We all know that O-Line is our main need and we will need to acquire a few guys in free agency who we can start. We cant leave it to chance in the draft. It would be nice if we didnt waste picks on Crybaby Martin and Dallas Thomas....and John Jerry. Reality is we basically need 4 starters on the line...but im not gonna get into that in this thread. Ill discuss the running backs.

When it comes to running backs....theres only one on the roster that id keep. Lamar Miller. Thomas sucks and Gillisllee isnt anything special and most likely never will be. Theres 2 running backs in free agency i would look at and thats Legarroute Blount and Rashard Jennings. I would also draft a running back in this deep running back class. Blount for the obvious reasons of his size and power. But i like Jennings too from what ive seen of him on Jax and Oakland. He has filled in nicely for both MJD and McFadden when they went down with injuries. To me both these guys are worth a look. Now i dont mean to have these guys carry the load but it would be nice to have a solid vet for depth and a guy with some size/power who can get the tough yards. Daniel Thomas sucks.

To put it in perspective Heres stats from last year...

Lamar Miller - 177carries for 709 yards 2 tds, 4.0ypc

Jennings - 163 carries for 733 yards 6 tds, 4.5ypc

Blount - 153 carries for 772 yards 7tds, 5.0ypc

Daniel Thomas - 109 carries for 406 yards 4tds, 3.7ypc

Like i said i dont expect these guys to carry the load or anything but they are bigger backs who run hard and can get some tough yards when needed. Jennings is like almost 15 pounds more than Miller and Blount is like 35 pounds heavier. They most likely wont cost a whole lot either. They can also help in pass blocking as well. Get one of these two guys then we draft a running back in one of the mid rounds. We got too many holes to fill to take a RB high in the draft so to me i find these two guys to be realistic fairly cheap options.

What do you guys think?

If it was up to me , I would release all the rbs on our team right now. Blount and Jennings are automatic upgrades over what we got. I would rather acquire our rbs through the draft.

I think bringing in a veteran running back is a good idea. I don't think Blount will be cheap....he had a pretty strong year in 2013....but whoever it is, a premium needs to be put on blocking and blitz pick up. From what I read, Moreno from Denver might be the best blocker of the free agent talent available.

I'm not ready to give up on Gisilee yet. Lets fix the o-line and see how he can do before we make a change....

We must sign a power back and cut Daniel Thomas. Luckily there a lot of serviceable RB's available in this year's free agency.

Toby Gerhart is also interesting. He's 6'0 231 lbs. 2nd round pick in '10 so he's in the prime of his career.

Ben tate is the only one that really interests me

Ben Tate is most likely going to receive the most money and be the most pursued rb available. I figured were going to spend more money on the line therefore probably won't go after Tate.

Jennings is a guy I expect a lot of teams to want.

Any player ne is willing to part with, you shouldn't go after, so blount is a no for me.

Used rbs are just dirty. Like hookers, you just don't know what your getting. They might get the job done; but you still feel dirty afterwards.

Go draft a fresh one, there clean and you can mold them to do the things you like. Its a good deal.

Toby Gerhart is still fairly young and practically zero damage to him. He's going to want to go somewhere where he can start and prove he's a #1 and not just Peterson's backup. While everyone else is going to want to pay for the Tate's and Blount's, I say sign Toby and draft a "potential" guy in middle/late rounds like Shanny does every year.

I got chastised here when I suggested we pick up Blount as a late round pick or FA. Now you all want him.

i would go after Blount and Ronnie Brown... fin can probably sign Brown relativly cheap and he can BLOCK and catch the ball out of the back field, and blount is our hard yard runner, with Miller as our change of pace guy... defences would never know how to play us. speed outside wr's very good slot receivers clay as tight end and brown out of the back field... wow
