1) Three of the four remaining teams in the playoffs run a 3-4 base defense. The Giants are the only team that run a base 4-3. The reason I bring this up is the fact that I hear some of you guys saying we should switch to a 4-3 especially if Jeff Fisher had become our coach. Is it a coincidence that the majority of the teams left use the 34 as their base?

2) After watching the games this weekend just how far are we from becoming a team that can get to the divisional round of the playoffs? I mean my god could we have beat any of those teams with the qb play they have vs the qb play that we have? I understand that we stayed with New England in the games we played with them but it just seems as if those teams are at a totally different level than we even can imagine. I do think we are right there with our defense especially if we keep the 3-4 but we need more weapons on offense, what do you guys think?

the only team we would have had a shot against that played this weekend was the texans and that was only if tj yates gave us the game...

The Dolphins haven't made it to the divisional round in 11 seasons. They haven't won a game in the divisional round in 19 seasons. The team has just finished below .500 for the third year in a row, has no coach, no QB, and no clue. It may be a while before we even win a wildcard game, much less a divisional game.

On the plus side, Parcells' incompetent lackeys are slowly being purged so there is hope that 2012 won't be another wasted season.

I might be wrong but didnt the Pats switch to a 4-3 this year?

In the NFL, you can turn it around in 1 season. You never know if we get the right people.

We have no answer for covering the better TE's. The elite recievers continually burn us.
We settle for too many field goals.
Until we fix these issues, we will not get past the wildcard game(if we ever get there).

They did but once they let Haynesworth go they've been running more hybrid stuff...still base 4-3 though. On obvious passing downs they seem to switch to more 3-4 stuff with Nincovich (sp?) playing rush OLB.

yep

On question #1. It's harder to load up on good D line than linebackers, especially considering the need for good pursuit skills. The Giants are just loaded on the D line, all of their guys could be pro bowlers, so it makes sense to get your best players on the field.

This team had too much to set up in a season w/no preseason. Even with DANSBY/BURNETT, "chemistry" took time. Ditto, DABOLL. And ditto, MOORE: he came in late, in a preseason that was too short anyway, and only got "back-up QB's reps" until HENNE went down. And yet, look at the "chemistry" he has managed to develop w/HARTLINE, BESS, FASANO, R BUSH and MARSHALL! Especially MARSHALL! When was the last time you all saw MARSHALL running deep patterns? And for completions?! And "touch"? How about those "circle" patterns to R BUSH? MOORE can make all the throws, has accuracy and "touch", is very mobile, plays smart, and can really lead. But he had one thing this season that NONE of those "playoff QBs" ever had to deal with: HE HAD COLUMBO at RT, and CAREY having to play RG to accommodate COLUMBO. (Say what you want w/CAREY, he's a serviceable, veteran RT, who hadn't played G since "The U", and it showed for a while) By my count, COLUMBO singlehandedly/almost singlehandedly cost MIAMI 5 or so games this season. I'll never forget how pathetic he looked against DALLAS. On that play i/s our 10, when WARE beat him cold to the inside. COLUMBO, w/his right arm extended, chased WARE to the QB, trying to grab him! COLUMBO can't even buy a HOLDING PENALTY!!! You all remember the result? A turnover...at our 8!!!

Stupid ROSS must get HIS share of the blame. He got cheap early and often last preseason. Starting the preseason, everyone everywhere knew that MIAMI's interior OLine was a joke, a shambles...everyone except stupid ROSS, I guess. By my count, there were 6 very solid F/A Gs when F/A began, including GALLERY and both of the starting Gs for ATLANTA. After cuts were made, there were a couple more. HOW MANY did MIAMI make a legit offer to? Yeah, NONE!! So, at the very end of the preseason, MIAMI has to go rummaging thru DALLAS's garbage can...again...and come up with WHAT? BINGO! If ROSS thinks that a celebrity wiggling her butt and jiggling her hooters will sell EXPENSIVE seats, and greasy hot dogs, and warm beer, I wish him luck: he's going to need it. One thing DOES sell tickets: WINNING.

MIAMI was c.$10 Million under the "cap" as I recall, plus whatever we wasted on COLUMBO. What would our O-Line looked like w/ just a little more money spent? Pick any of GALLERY or either of ATLANTA's starting Gs. Our putrid OL would have started out as: LONG/F-A/POUNCEY/INCOGNITO (where he SHOULD line up)/CAREY. The reserves would have been, at the very least, GARNER and JERRY (who showed us that he can even back-up LT) and maybe one "aging veteran" (not named COLUMBO) w/"a little gas left in his tank" and who still wanted to play football. We HAD THE "CAPSPACE", and I feel that IRELAND CAN spot talent: it should've been easy. And with that group of OLmen, I figure MIAMI would have beaten CLEVELAND, DENVER, NY GIANTS, DALLAS, and N.E. and TOMMY BOY, with a shot at beating S.D.. Let's play MR. ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD. "Can you say 'playoffs'?...I knew you could." Instead, WE WATCH. AGAIN.

That Giants 4-3 is the eason I'm rooting for them in the playoffs. The front 4 are monsters and bring pressure on every play. It's like they have Cam Wake motors in all of them. I also like watching Eli.
That D-line is pretty darn good. If we model our team like theirs, I won't be unhappy.
