I'm going to go out on a limb and project that this guy not only makes the team...he will push to start at guard and will be by years end.

Finalist for the Rimmington award as the nations best center, 2nd team all-american, and he graded out a perfect 100 in 7 of his games.

He held his own against Aaron Donald at the senior bowl (unlike some drafted centers there), how he was not drafted amazes me but it will benefit the Miami Dolphins I believe.

I don't know about starting by season's end, but I think he has a VERY good shot at making the final 53. If Pouncey does get some sort of suspension, I think he will pretty much be locked into a roster spot. Of course assuming he doesn't get hurt or fall flat on his face in training camp. Larsen and Johnson are two UDFAs I think have a great shot at making the final roster.

like him.
i can also see Gator making the team.by by Egnew

If injuries start happening, you can just about bet on it.

Idk about start but he can push to be a backup at both Guard and Center. Could push Garner out of job soon and make Dallas Thomas prove his worth or get out.

I don't understand how this guy fell through the cracks. He's at least 3rd or 4th round standard imo. Then again, what do I know? Sometimes I wonder if the evaluators get paralysis by analysis.

Glad we have competition for places of his calibre. I don't know if he'll make the roster, he'll have to prove his versatility and I've only seen him at center so couldn't guess at his ability to man a different spot.

I'm quite sure he can play guard as well.

Of course he has to come in and take it and compete.

The point is....he displayed at the senior bowl week he could play with the best this draft had to offer at DT...better than the many who ended up getting drafted.

So I think were lucky to get him and I think he'll be a surprise of camp type who makes the roster and provides good interior depth at least, and can back Pouncey up.

he showed at the senior bowl the same thing he showed at the rookie mini camp...which was that he could anchor...and that's important on the pivot...he also showed at the senior bowl that he's an ehhh move and foot athlete...and you aren't gonna change that...

there's athletic limitations here for sure...still he's one of the udfas to keep an eye on...but he's gonna have to prove that he can play more than center to make this team as a backup i'd say...depth needs to be able to man all 3 interior positions...the arm length doesn't help with that

should have been drafted though...day 3 his name should have been called...he's got nfl strength all day long...

I don't think the arm length is as important for an interior guy...yes, he is not going to play tackle for anybody, but it is way overblown for interior guys.

I like the kid. I realize he doesn't have the agility and fluidity we are ideally seeking in an OG or OC, but when you watch him it's obvious the kid can play.

I'm reminded of a Jimmy Valvano recruiting story. At the time he was an assistant coach at NC State. His brother in New York always tipped him off to the best recruits. His brother wouldn't stop talking about this one guy that Jimmy refused to watch play. The problem was that he was a 6'4 slashing small forward. Jimmy repeatedly told his brother there was no way a 6'4 kid could play forward at the ACC level.

Despite his brothers constant and impassioned pleas, Including repeatedly telling Jimmy that the kid was the best player in New York City, Jimmy never went to see him play. He was not recruited by NC State.

The player's name was Julius Irving. Dr. J. He simply didn't fit the measureables for the position of forward. Flawed .... Thinking.

it's still important at guard...not as much on the pivot although dinosaur arms even on the pivot can be a problem...see aq shipley formerly of penn state now a on the fringe member of the ravens...if his arms weren't so short he'd probably be a solid pro...but as a result he's a one position player only...and a look to replace one at that

Great story......we have example after example we could talk about in regards to flawed metrics on players that were erased by heart and desire.

Zach Thomas was certainly not a prototype, Anquan Boldin is not a prototype and I'm quite sure I can find you many examples of offensive guards and centers that were great that didn't fit the prototype.

I care more about finding football players.
