In case you were wondering what the "undisclosed" pick was...

i think a 5th is too high for a back up QB that might not play?

mort blurbed it, it wasn't reported but he said it when they were talking about thigpen as a weapon in the wildcat..

So, this is what our draft looks like as of today:

1st round
2nd round
3rd round
4th round
6th round
6th round - From Kansas City
6th round - From Washington
7th round
7th round - From Kansas City

I don't know why people would be down on Thigpen. The guy presents the best value you'll likely get for a 5th round pick. If Henne goes down, I like our chances better with Thigpen backing him up than White (at least for now). Thigpen offers a versatile weapon in the spread or with the Wildcat and brings starters experience. What else do you want for a 5th round pick? Look at John Nalbone, a 5th rounder this year I believe. While he may be good down the line, he has yet to show or do anything and is still considered a project. Who here would rather have another player like Nalbone (from the 5th round) over a proven commodity like Tyler Thigpen?

He's only 25 and has starting experience. Essentially he was our 5th round draft pick next year. I think it was a good deal.

And, I also like that we were able to get a 6th for two guys we would have dumped anyway.

shoulda tossed em one of our 6th and thats it!
They wouldn't have traded him to us for a 6th round pick. We needed a backup QB and a veteran with starting experience who could come in if Henne goes down. There is no QB that would be available in the 5th round next year that can bring that to Miami. I think it was a fair deal.

Those back of the draft picks MAY give Miami more flexibility to move up in the draft now if they see a player they think might be taken in front of their pick. Given that this team's weaknesses seem to be fewer and fewer, the FO might want to consider targeting particular players rather than keep picking a number of mid-to-low rounders (who may have made immediate impact in a year or two ago, but will find cracking the starting lineup or being active on gameday more difficult).

The way it's looking, we'll pick early in the rounds with the KC picks b/c they will probably have a terrible record at the end of the year.
