I thought he already looked much more capable than White when I saw him carrying that clipboard on the sideline last week.

My guess is that after the Bye White will be demoted...

Whiite isnt even close to being in Thigpen's league and IMO will never be.. I cant believe we drafted this joke of a player.. He'll never be a viable NFL QB and since he will never be decent at the position he was drafted to play, he will never be good at any position.. We continue to the path of spending 2nd round picks on worthless QB's less the 2008 draft

Thigpen is far away our most experienced QB. He started in 11 games last year and threw for 2,600 yards and 18 touchdowns. He ran 62 times for 362 yards which was 2nd on the team. He had a 6.2 yard per carry average (in the NFL, not college) with a long of 32 yards and 3 touchdowns.

He also caught a 37 yard touchdown pass.

The main physical difference between Thigpen and White is that Thigpen is 35 pounds heavier.

And Thigpen will not replace White in the Wildcat since White does not play in the Wildcat. But I can see Thigpen coming in and playing the "QB WR" position or even taking over Ronnie's spot as the Wildcat "QB". This will finally add the pass to the Wildcat.

IMO, considering that we have a lot more very good running backs then decent WRs it would be foolish to use the spread or spread option formation.

Pat White is much too small to ever be a runner in the NFL.

The only position he has decent size for playing is WR or corner.. and he will never play at eithe rof those positions, ie.. he will never be able to help us at any position.. unfortunately.. He's seemingly already a wasted pick.. IMO this was by far the worst pich of the trifecta tenure

I'm find with that draft except for taking Jared Cook(TE) over Pat White and Louis Murphy(WR) over Pat Turner.

We should simply never draft a player named "Pat" agai.

Really??!! Overtaking Pat White as spread option QB? God, that could be a huge benefit to the offense. The Fins brass certainly brought him in to compete with White for the spread option QB role. Their plan is clearly to have one pocket guy (Henne) and two spread option guys battle it out for 2nd and third. So if something happens to Henne we are safely covered in the spread option attack.

Tell that to Doug Flutie, Leon Washington, and Warrick Dunn

Thigpen might have more experience in terms of games/years played, but white is overall more athletic in most comparitive facets.

arm strength and speed in particular. I'm not saying that Thigpen isnt athletic or mobile by any means, its just a plain fact that White is superior in these areas.

I understand that despite these advantages, Thigpen would most likely be a better option as far as this year is concerned, since he is much further along in terms of understanding and reading NFL defensive coverages than the rookie.

The coaches like White. He's got smarts, but he needs to put on a few pounds. It's not life or death the way everyone makes it out to be, he's far from being an every-down QB or even a 10 play per week QB.

The one thing that gets me though, is the speculation that Parcell's and co. "Hate-drafted" Pat White away from New England, and i've actually heard the mainstream media (espn or NFL network) support that theory. It makes absolutely no sense to me, i think we could have "hurt" the Patriots more by drafting another necessity if the coaches didint believe in White as an NFL player worthy of being picked 2nd overall.

In Parcell's I Trust.

white is a rookie got damn? foreal? are you seriously gonna judge pat white off what youve seen ...all 23 snaps worth of material? as a rookie in a experimental offense? come on bro...we all know pat white is the truth...you cant really judge a guy off 20 something snaps...a rookie at that...im still giving henne the benefit of the doubt right now....tyler thigpen is better than pat white right now..theres more nfl film from him to make that kind of decision

give white time, I bet they try to use him against the Jets this week, go all out to get the win, we're saying he sucks cause he's handed the ball off 3-4 times, ran it once and overthrew what could have been a huge TD for Ted Ginn by about 5 yards, give him time, he'll be a playmaker, i can see us drafting him so New England couldn't get him, but at the same time they wouldn't waste a 2nd round pick on someone they saw no potential in.

What did we end up giving up for Thigpen anyway?

I say this week they already have a couple packages designed for him. The offense is in dire need of big plays and why not try him as soon as possible?
