Tyreek: Tua Throws better than alot of People actually think

Considering the number of football commentators who believe he can’t throw the ball at all I guess that counts as some kind of endorsement . Just a couple days ago skip bayless actually said the dolphins with mayfield are a playoff team. For commentators to feel that they can say that means something .

FYI Shannon sharpe didn’t come to tuas defense when he had previously stated he consideres mayfield a middle of the pack which among ALL qbs in the league (backups included )

This is Tuas make or break year period…..

You're actually going to quote those two idiots to make a point? Not sure how much of an endorsement those guys are.

Your examples are career trolls? Great ones to go by

**** I’d put more stock into whatever Omar has to say

Anyone who actually watched Tua at Alabama knows he has a great arm. I do think the serious hip injury he had in college affected his throwing motion his first two years in the league because that type of injury normally takes 18-24 months to fully recover from.

He now appears stronger and it looks like he is back to the player he was prior to the injury. As far as individuals like Bayless saying anything about Tua is ridiculous. He makes his living demeaning great athletes and it hard to believe anything he says is taken seriously by anyone.

The fact you actually watch someone as clueless as Bayless for your football information tells me a lot about how little you actually know about the game of football to begin with.

You are using 2 shock jock guys to back up your opinion? These guys are hyperbole for ratings.

You just keep on trying to bash on Tua. With little dumb comments like he can't throw more then ten yards or he has girls arm. Yet never have any data to support it. Never use any guys that break down the film. Maybe people would take you a little serious if you backed up your opinion with well anything.

Let's take a look at he so called weak arm as you claim. Does he have a cannon? Does he have above average NFL arm strength? Yes. How do we know this? Well I actually use data and film. Tua's exit velocity is fine at 54 mph on average. Tua has has shown multiple times in a game he can throw over 50+ yards. He has enough arm strength.

Let's look at where the shock jocks come up with there hot take of Tua is limited in the deep passes. It all comes from a lack of total deep passes, which is a volume stat. Multiple reasons could be why. It could be playcalling, lack of playmakers, poor pass blocking, or a poor QB. The QB was actually top 3 in completion% and #1 in adjusted completion % on throws of 20+ yards. We had one legitimate playmaker(Waddle). An OL that had the worst graded pass blocking in the last 20 years. A O coaching staff that had first time coaches pretty much at every position and lacked NFL experience. But hey the shock jocks pick the QB to blame. Wonder why? Because the casual NFL fan won't watch a show talking about how an OL didn't place his hands in the right place. Drama sells, and hot takes on a QB is drama. There is a reason that when espn did its cutback most the guys let's go were analysts/film guys, but idiots like Stephen A that just yell at the TV kept there jobs. All about the ratings.

Heck there are plenty of areas to critique Tua and want to see progress, but ar/deep throws really shouldn't be at the top of the list. Tua's biggest individual issues last season was footwork when throwing on the run and late reads over the middle.

This should be the year, Tua finally has a legitimate chance to excel. Much improved O staff (big time QB coach), added huge playmaker (Hill). While the OL may not be great, it should be much improved and at least average. Three big areas to watch for with Tua. Improved footwork on the move. Improved decisions, especially don't throw late over the middle. This will be key, maintain a high efficiency rate with an increased number of throws downfield. If those 3 things happen Tua can be a top 5 QB, if not he will probably just be a middle of the pack starter.

I've been saying this for a bit. Honestly, I can't remember an athlete coming back from an injury like Tua's. Not because it's so difficult to come back from (which it pretty clearly is,) but because it's so uncommon. There simply isn't a lengthy history of athletes recovering from this. ACL tears? There's a long history of recoveries. We know how long it takes one to start working out, when they can get back on the field, and how long it might take for them to be back to 100% and trust the recovered knee again. Rotator cuffs? Same thing. Torn labrum? Yup.

But not with this. The closest comparison I can find is Buster Posey's hip injury. It took him nearly three years to get back to where he was pre-injury.

I certainly am hoping he has physically improved and proves he’s worthy of the 5th overall…I was a Herbert proponent and would love to see Tua get the job done!

He has all the support you could hope for……
Before that hip injury I wanted Tua over Herbert. But after the hip if I was in charge of picking between them, with my job potentially on the line, I would have drafted Herbert.

I still think Tua can be a home run, but more than anything with him I believe it comes down to staying healthy.
