When we signed Clabo, some thought him to be old with diminishing skills, and no where near the top 5 RT he was just last year. I liked the signing and was proven wrong, as he was horrible in the first 7 weeks. His pass blocking grade was -10.4, run -5.5, and he gave up 8 sacks, 7 hits, and 18 hurries. He was benched, and with good reason. He as not what we thought we were getting.

Then, in the past 7 weeks, his pass grade went to +7.9, run to +6.7, and he has given up 3 sacks, 4 hits, and 9 hurries. That would rank him as the #5 RT in the NFL, and who we thought we signed.

I hve no rhyme or reason as to what happened here but, he sure as hell did not get any younger, just played back to what he was a year ago. Clabo is the reason our OL is somewhat better, and why RT has a bit more time, and it is GREAT to have him back to where he once belonged.

yea i haven't heard anything at all when it comes to Clabo since martin left...which is almost always a good thing when referencing an O lineman. Definitely have to commend em for bouncing back like the vet he is.

The whole o-line has a done a great job considering . am so happy that Clabo has made the ajustment

There was something wrong with the O-line before the cafeteria incident and now it's playing significantly better and the team looks a lot better. I don't know if it was Martin or Incognito or both or coach Turner or just the team chemistry, but the improvement is clear and self evident. Clabo has improved a lot, John Jerry looks decent and McKinney is a mountain of a man protecting Tannehill's blind side and looks a big improvement on Martin. Ultimately, we will understand better what has happened. The irony is that the cafeteria incident is the turning point of the season in that it brought the team closer together.

I'm thinking his conditioning wasn't up to par or some ****. He was so weak at the point of attack to start the season. Dude was getting punished out there.

4th and 5, Clabo makes a key block to keep us in the game. I don't think he should be our solution next year, but the way he's handled everything has been a real credit to his professionalism and character.

Clabo is an ultimate pro, saying that he was not getting it done, and no bitching and moaning after being benched. So glad to see him playing up to form, and guarantee RT is as well. He is also a top OT on screens.

IF I had to keep one of our OT's, he would be an easy choice over McKennie. The main reason is, as you say, you don't hear anything about him, as it should be on the OL. JMO

More likely some ****, no one gets in better condition in a week.

The thing is, if he has figured it out, why not sign him to another one year deal? Rookie works his way in and gets taught by Vet.

Same with Mckinney. Load em up!

I tend to think its snap count, system, playbook ect ect. It takes some time until you do it in your sleep and if you have guys next to you who are no good (Samuda) and Jerry injured, it stunts your growth.

Clabo has shown much more than McKinnie on the field. I want to see how he does vs Buff who killed him in the first game.

Late season line play seldom makes perfect sense. I gave up more than two decades ago. In college the trends continue but you get the occasional oddball game. In the NFL the situational factors tend to be more relevant than player by player evaluation. For example, Buffalo is in FAR or Fury of Anti-Revenge mode, after winning at our place early in the season. That means they'll be energized early in the time, determined to punch us in the mouth as a reminder that it wasn't a fluke. I suspect the Bills will own the line of scrimmage early and that our offensive line will look more vulnerable than any point in recent weeks.

The frenzy will wear off as the game progresses. We need to avoid early turnovers. Punts are fine.

Yeah, and we are pissed on losing a game that was in hand. Posturing aside, I would look for Tannehill to force the Buff pass rush to run and use up some energy early. JMO

Is Clabo really playing better, or have we adjusted to him? I think its certainly both, but more the latter. Right tackles should be able to provide more than the time Tannehill is getting the ball in, but he's not being asked to, , at least not for much more than the token play here and there, which he was earlier in the season.

We need players with more physical capability than what we've had out there this year, though its nice to see us find a way to provide competent pass protection. We're still held back by not having guys who can push the defense back in those situations where its both expected but also absolutely necessary.

Because he had the same kind of deal last year, when he was awful early and then improved. Only his awful this year was worse than his awful last year, and his improvement this year is not as good as his improvement last year. You see where I'm going with this?

With so many positions needed in the OL, keeping both McKinnie and Clabo would make a TON of sense, even as you draft (or acquire in FA) players to try to upgrade at both spots. For goodness sakes, don't repeat the same mistake of last year -- giving up players that can play and HOPING to replace them w. better, lol. Hope is not a plan. Keep what you have that rescued your season. Then try like heck to upgrade across the board next year: LT, RT, RG & LG. But keep what you have. Don't give it up just on hope.
