The Dolphins have been showing a lot of interest in him and I am really excited about the possibility of drafting him.

Here is an excerpt from NFL.com after his pro-day where he ran a 4.31

DB Tyvon Branch (5-11 7/8, 208): Had a 38-inch vertical jump, ran position drills and kept all his other times from the combine. Since 2004, only five defensive backs have weighed 200-plus pounds and run under 4.40 in the 40. Three were drafted in the first round and the other two were taken within the first three rounds. Four of the five are NFL starters (Bob Sanders, LaRon Landry, Michael Huff and DeAngelo Hall).

I think he'd be a nice pick at 2B or 3 if he is still there since his stock has been improving considerably. Branch is a big, physical, speedy corner with great size that gives him the ability to switch between CB and FS, where he has some experience. As a bonus, Branch also returned kick-offs and punts in college.

i love this kid but where does it say miami has shown great interest? and i doubt he lasts till 2B.

I believe Jason Allen is the fifth defensive back to achieve this when he ran a 4.39 at the combine in 2006. All five were starters at the end of the 2007 season.

Branch also averaged nearly 29 yards per kickoff return last season at UCon.

Tyvon Branch, Connecticut
Height: 5-11. Weight: 204.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Combine 40 Time: 4.31.
Benchx225: 19. Vertical 38.
Projected Round: 3-4.

Tyvon Branch opened some eyes with his 4.31. There's a chance he could sneak ahead of some of the guys who ran slowly like Chevis Jackson.

Strengths:
Has terrific size and bulk...A great athlete....Outstanding timed speed...Tough and physical...Will come up and support the run...A reliable tackler...Smart with a great football IQ...Good instincts and awareness...A respected team leader...Three-year starter with a lot of experience...He should also contribute as a special teams ace.

Weaknesses:
Does not have very good hands or ball skills...Hips aren't fluid and he struggles to transition...May not be a perfect fit for every team...He could be forced to make a position change...Is not a playmaker...Doesn't always play up to his measurables.

Notes:
Also being looked at as a potential safety...As a prep he was named the Gatorade New York State Track Athlete of the Year and won the 2004 National Indoor Track Championship in the 60 meters (6.82)..Was arrested in May of 2005 when he and some teammates shot out a car window with a B.B. gun...Does a much better job in zone coverage than he does in man..Workout Warrior with prototypical triangle numbers..Snuck up on people as a pro prospect but he really is the total package
