Dolphins OT Mickey Baucus who was signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2015 draft has decided to retire because of injury reasons. Darn, better cancel my order for my custom made Baucus jersey.

young and big bodied, prob wouldnt factored in this year but you cant coach size, mightve been nice to see what we couldve did with a player of his size on the practice squad. size and speed are two good things to always keep in mind for the PS. oh well, next man up

Good news just a FA, bad news is the OT position we are very thin at. We have James, Pouncy and a injured Albert, everybody else is unproven. Yep that's thin.

It's thin with or without him.

I feel bad for the kid because his body is a train wreck. He wants to play but his many previous injuries have caught up to him so he knew he needed to step away from the game.

You're more sentimental than I am.. So instead of making millions he'll have to get a regular job like the rest of us common folk- if he graduated that is.

Yeah every un drafted lineman starts out making millions.

Practice squad players make a little over $100k a year IF they remain on the squad for the entire year. $6300 a week otherwise. Good money right out of college, but if you have serious injury concerns, is it worth it? Probably not if you can get into a good career early on if you have a degree like he does.

What a shame. Here's an ironic article from Dec. '14 citing Baucus's school record 52nd straight start.

Carmel grad Mickey Baucus an iron man on Arizona's offensive line

Football is not a game for those who are fearful of their own mortality. Careers can perish after any snap of the ball.

That’s what makes former Carmel offensive lineman Mickey Baucus so exceptional.

On Dec. 31, Baucus will take the field for the Arizona Wildcats in the Fiesta Bowl played in Glendale, Arizona. When the 6-7, 305-pound left tackle puts his left hand in the ground and lunges forward after the start of his team’s first play, it will mark his 52nd straight start.

That number is a school record.

“I see guys with all the talent in the world go down with freak injuries. Part of it is luck,” Baucus said. “Part of it is putting time in the weight room and training room and keeping your body in good physical condition.”

And for the inconsiderate foolishness out there, Baucus is an Arizona grad.

I thought of Tevis and his nine fellow graduates — including Fabbians Ebbele, Mickey Baucus and Dan Pettinato — while scrolling through my Facebook account the other day...

The Wildcats might lose the Fiesta Bowl next week, but much like Wayne Wyatt, they’ve already won.

I'm not sure this is something we can recover from. Such a huge loss. I may jump off a bridge over this news.

So just because he would have been in a better financial situation than you, you're bitter about it? What an outlook on life.

I did not implicitly or explicitly state that I'm bitter about anything. All i stated was I do not feel sorry for him

Good, so he has life after football.
