Imagine this offseason...

We make a huge trade with Dallas:
Miami gets- picks #22,#29, Marion Barber, Marcus Spears, Bobby Carpenter, 7th round pick
Dallas gets- 1st overall pick

We make another huge trade with Cincinnati:
Miami gets- WR Chad Johnson
Cincinatti gets- 3rd round 1st pick

In Free Agency, Miami drops Marty Booker, either Ricky Williams (noones gonna trade for him) or Jesse Chatman, talks Zach Thomas into retiring (for his sake :( sad to see him go but its for the best) and releases some other lesser known players). They resign Rex Hadnot. They dont resign Cleo Lemon. They bring back Trent Green, although he reduces his salary. (face it guys theres noone better in FA except maybe Mcnabb and even he's a huge gamble)
Miami picks up OG Flozell Adams/or Alan Faneca and DT Shaun Rogers

-In the draft, Miami would now have FOUR picks in day one
In summary, they would have picked up the run defensive help they needed in Shaun Rogers, they would create a nice line with Carey, Adams/Faneca, Satele, and Hadnot and would only need to draft an OT. They would have picked up a nice addition to the WRs with CJ. An addition to Ronnie, with Barber in town to help Ronnie with a nice recovery. Some defensive and special teams depth with the addition of Spears and Carpenter. and now the draft...We would now need a LB (to replace Zach), lots of help in the secondary, an OT, third QB, a DE to backup JT (Spears and Roth will battle it out on the other side), a punter (why hasnt Fields been released yet?) and a Tight End.

Round 1a LB Dan Connor PSU (better prospect then Paul Poszluzny)

Round 2a CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie TSU (stock is soaring, this guys excting to watch)
Round 2b TE Martellus Bennett T-A&MU (huge TE)
Round 3 (Chad Johnson)
Round 4 Top Rated DE
Round 5 (Trent Green)
Round 6 Top Rated OT
Roudn 7 P Mike Dragosavich NDSU
Round 7 (acquired from Dallas) QB Matt Flynn LSU

Hopefully guys like Paul Solai, Quentin Moses, Rod Wright, and Matt Roth step up. And how sweet is it gonna be to let Lorenzo Booker run loose.
 
Interesting. I still think that your Dallas trade is unrealistic, but drop Barber, and add a mid-round pick, I still think its a no brainer. I dont like the Connor pick, especially if we acquire Carpenter. IMO he and Channing are the inside backers in your scenario.

Other points:

-Rex is going to want a lot of cash. Dont be surprised to see him walk.
-We wont draft another punter IMO (though I am not as high on Fields as others, trust me) but if we did, I think Dragosavich is long gone by the 7th round.
-I dont believe we will keep the 2a pick, unless someone we love has fallen. It is one of the most commonly traded picks (the first pick of the 2nd round), and I would drop down a bit for an extra 4th.
-Rogers wont be cut. Someone will trade for him.

Overall, one of the better proposals I have seen, but not perfect. Nice work.
 
true but Carpenter couldnt crack the starting lineup in Dallas.. id bring him here first and foremost for his special teams help as our sp teams was abysmal.. give him a year behind a guy like Zach and let him take over next year.. Connor is coming from PSU, a linbacker factory university and the scouts say he is better than Paul Pos. who was picked in the top 15 last year so that says a lot.. hes the all time leading tackler in PSU - once again, that says a lot
 
ya on paper it looks like an unrealistic trade... but for one Dallas wants to get rid of Carpenter and Spears and more importantly there salaries so theyd be willing to unleash them... on top of that Jerry Jones really wants a gamebreaker, Adrian-Peterson type in Darren Mcfadden.. He'll instantly make that offense better than they already were.. And i know the trade value charts dont really work anymore, you gotta follow it a little... and we'd be giving the 'boys the FIRST overall pick in the draft, thats huge and we better get something just as great in return
 
Absolutely, but then wouldnt a 2nd round pick have more value to us than Marion Barber? Considering he wants a new contract? You could argue that.

Paul Posluszny was taken early in R2, not top 15. I think Connor is a good player, but I want an immediate impact out of my first round pick. Not sure he would make one with Channing, Carpenter and potentially Zach in front of him.
 
There is no way you turn down Barber. I know we have Brown but to have another guy so that is one goes down the blow doesnt hurt so bad. How can you turn it down you would have to be nuts

If we had barber this year when brown went out maybe we win a couple more games.
 
Like I said, I wouldnt turn it down. HOWEVER, the argument for us not taking McFadden is, we have too many needs, you dont give two RBs all that money. Well, Barber is going to want to be paid.
 
I just cant see jones giving up THAT much... besides. The draft chart is too dated.It was pre-salary cap and 40 million guaranteed to the first pick.... if anything the value for that pick has dropped...


and if chambers and welker went for 2nd rnd picks i doubt chad johnson would go for less than that...

then we trade our # 59 we got from Chambers to cincy for CJ

End up with: 22, 28, 32, on the 1st day and Barber/CJ to go along with it.

Thats realistic.
 
ya ur definitely the one on crack.. if u knew anything about football and about jerry jones ud know he gets what he wants.. he wants mcfadden, hes willing to unload garbage players (in his eyes) for a game-changing, money making machine like mcfadden.. he wants to get rid of carpenter and spears and theyre 1st round salary numbers ..

Connors is too small to play in the 3-4.....and I agree that the boys won't give up the 22 and 28 plus 2 players plus a 7 too.
