UM coach Haith lost nephew in N.Y. shooting

A University of Miami spokesman confirmed Monday night that men's basketball coach Frank Haith is the uncle of the young man shot to death in New York Saturday night hours before he was to be married.
Sean Bell, 23, was killed while he and two friends were leaving his bachelor party.
According to the Associated Press, police shot 50 rounds at Bell's car as he drove away from a strip club in Queens. Bell had two friends in the car with him who also were shot several times.

Still not clear, either NYC Police made a huge error in judgement, or were provoked:

Police have said that undercover officers were conducting a vice operation at the club before the shooting, and they believed the victims were going to retrieve a gun — although no weapons were found. Police have also said Bell's car struck an officer and crashed into an unmarked police van.
