From what I can discern, he is a first rd talent. But then you look at his draft grades and he is anywhere from a 2nd - 4th rd pick. Is there something I am missing?

He's pretty stiff, has no bend, liability in coverage, liability against the run.
But physically he's a ox, and has a motor As good as you'll ever see. He will get his sacks in the nfl, but he's projected as a pass rushing specialist and there's legit questions as to if he can do it consistently, get pressure consistently and add More moves to his technique.
I personally don't think he's a top 10 worthy pick, but outside of that, he's intriguing.

Yeah OP not sure where you have been seeing that but everything I have read has him looking like a top 10 pick. He is about to blow up the combine…he's got the best get off in this draft as a pass rusher IMO. If he fell to 14 Im not sure there would be better options.
The player comparison has been out there for a while, but he is very similar to Wake.
I have seen nothing but a top 12 grade on Shane Ray.
Depending on how the top 13 fall.....its not inconceivable Miami drafts a pash rusher in round 1.....getting to the QB is key in this pass happy.
Markus Golden....Ray's bookend at UM is no slouch either and a double digit sacker....someone to watch later.
