I dont know if it hurts or helps football yet, the rules change and you dont become a free agent until your in the league 5 or 6 years, most careers are 4 or 5 years long on average, according to the agreement there are limitations to how many players playoff teams can sign, the draft gets a cap on salaries and i think the franchise and transition tags stay also, dont think one player matters in football except QB, so it may be no big deal
