Kenny Stills

If there's one thing we know about Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler, it's that he's a great deep-ball thrower—when he's accurate. That makes Kenny Stills, in his third season with the Dolphins after two campaigns with the Saints, as important as any member of the Miami offense. . .

More about Stills and all 32 teams: NFL Team's Early Hidden Gem

Having 9TDs in a season doesn't make you "hidden." Just about everyone who follows football has heard the name Kenny Stills.

I think it's still a surprise to some even around here that Kenny Stills not only led the team in TDs, but that his 9 TDs were more than double of any other receiver on the team. I could be wrong though. I don't play fantasy football either so maybe that information is more prevalent in that environment that I am aware of.

I play and he's available in 2 out of 3 of my leagues.

Nope, you are quite right. Stills ownership percentages in fantasy leagues is remarkably low.

He only averaged <50 yards on ~2 catches a game last season. Even with the TDs.. he isn't really worth having in fantasy.

This is why I don't play fantasy. It gives fans a false sense of who is actually a good player being that it is based on volume rather than value.

If it's based upon fantasy football then yea kenny stills isn't worth having.

Really isn't that surprising. He is too inconsistent when it comes to producing actual stats.

He'd have 70 yards and a TD one week and the next he'd have 1 catch for 10 yards.

Maybe if those fans don't have enough sense to understand the difference between fantasy and the actual game of football. They aren't the same thing.

Unfortunately, fantasy isn't going anywhere. It brings a bunch more eyeballs to the NFL at a time that the NFL is struggling to hold eyes and gain more attention.

Yeah I have absolutely no interest in any format where there could be a consideration that Blake Bortles would be an actual "good" option to have b/c of his volume production in garbage time.

I see your point though. Just not for me.

Agreed. I gave up fantasy a couple years ago when I realized I was caring about the Dolphin's opposing team players who were on my fantasy team as much as rooting for a Dolphins win.

Also, **** my coworkers and family members for trying to pressure me to keep playing. No thanks.

I played once here with FH. I lost to Walrus in the playoffs b/c of my kicker. Guess the Chargers know what that's like. LOL

Believe it or not, there are actually those of us who can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, enjoy playing fantasy football, and are perfectly adept at differentiating between fantasy value and actual value for the teams they play for.

For instance, the Kenny Stills and Deshawn Jacksons of the world are extremely valuable to their teams because they can take safeties out of a play, open up the middle of the field, and let the other weapons operate in space. They can also change a game with a single 9 route.

However, on a fantasy roster, especially in PPR leagues, they don't receive enough targets each week to garner being starters. That's why no matter how much people bellyache about Jarvis Landry's yards per catch rate, he's absolute gold in fantasy because he can catch 13 balls like last week. In real football, however, it's easy to see why he's a 2nd round pick and guys like Phillip Dorsett and Breshad Perriman go in the 1st.

Trust me, nobody is going to question your football intellect if you enjoy playing fantasy.
