I don't think I want this guy here next season. Every big play, big gain, big completions, and TD were against the one and only Lance Shulters...That last TD from Ben Watson was his fault..He had very poor coverage and has this tendency to get beat often.

I hope we stick with Bell and Tillman and some other FA ..

Didn't he also lead the team in INT's??

Lance played fine. What game were you watching? You ever think that an LB was out of place on that last TD? No. You see Schulters and just blame him. Schulters didn't look out of place on that INT.

I am unhappy that people feel the need to start these threads right after a huge win about how bad our players are. Its not as bad as the Not Impressed thread though.

I didn't see the last play. Lance does have a tendency to give up the big play, but whom other player on our defense doesn't? Lance had a good year. I think Travares and Yeremiah are much better suited in this system at FS, with TeBucky and/or Lance at SS, with those ladder two guys being used more as help rather than being expected to win matchups in man coverage. I want Lance back, his experience is much needed on the defense.

Hmmm, I believe Lance Schulters is our ONLY playermaker in secondary. If you consider Madison, maybe, but he's getting up there agewise. Besides, without Schulters we wouldn't have won a few games and possibly not even today.

Schulters doesn't make plays. The plays come to him. The only INT where he "made" the play was against Carolina in the beginning of the season. His others INTs where deflected passes, or passes that were lofted up.

Schulters is pretty good at tackling. He does put himself in good positions, so he knows the defense. But he is NOT very good in pass coverage. He doesn't cover the WRs well.

It is hard to say what Miami should do with him. If he asks for a reasonable price, then a two year contract might sound good.

Lance Shulters was one of the best off-season acquistions.

How can you say that about the playmaking? I mean honestly, just because they are tipped doesn't mean you should take credit away from him. On those INTs does he intercept the ball? Yes. Does he change the mood of the game? Yes. Therefore he makes plays.

The facts are the facts kid. You need to re-read what I wrote. He is obviously putting himself in good spots. He knows the defense, which is something that goes along way. But he is not very good in pass coverage at all. That can hurt a team that wants to be at a playoff caliber. There may be someone else out there that Miami wants in the offseason. It will depend on what Schulters wants and whether or not Miami feels his requests are fair (in terms of contract).

i have to agree that Lance has not been a great addition...he's given up just as many big plays as Reggie Howard, the only reason we haven't replaced him is because we don't have anyone else at that position...which is sad...

good hitter, but not very smart at calling the secondary...and while he did catch deflected balls, he really didn't make any of them happen, so basically he was doing what almost anyone could do

with madison, howard, and schulters gone...I think the secondary will actually improve and the cap drain that they are will be gone thank goodness

i hoped schulters could still play, but it's evident he's just not the player some think he is.... when he was at the titans, he had the help of a stellar supporting cast in the other DBs...we lack that

I questioned Lance at SS before, but it does seem like he'd make a better SS.
I'd say SS: Schulters or Jones, #2Tillman and FS: Bell vs. ???, #2Tillman.

Lance Schulters play this year has been up and down, but overall I'd say he's been pretty good. He has made some great plays for us this year and single handedly won the Carolina game for us. But sometimes his gambling gets him into trouble, like the Jets and Titans game where he went for the INT and fell down and the receiver ran for a long TD. I would definitely want him back for the right price.

Lance Shulters has done a lot better then Sam Madison!! Why not dump SM and keep LS. Sure he might've missed a cover or two but who doesn't. For the most part he's quite consistent.
