Not much new info, but still a good read.

"...this team hasn't really had a great quarterback here since Dan Marino. So any time someone slips a little bit, they throw their hands up and assume the worst."

"Darlington said the word from Parcells and the new staff is that they want to evaluate Beck."

"They really do like their impressions in the early evaluation period, but we'll see what they do," Darlington said. "They could bring in a veteran to kind of let John grow or let him assume the quarterback duties..."

How long are we going to sit him out the guys 27 right ?

How long are we going to sit him out the guys 27 right ?

That's my big issue with him. If he's ready to start right now, cool...his age is not yet an issue. But if we need him to sit a year or two more before he's ready, well Jeez...he'll be 29 before he's ready to start and how many years after that before he's good enough to take us deep into the playoffs?

He needs to start this season if we want to get the most out of him. Regardless of age you put the best talent on the field. Beck is our future QB and as of right now the talent is "mute". Farve wasn't exactly pretty in his first year, he got traded and became famous in Green Bay. He is also old, really old but still managed to get to the NFC championship. WHY did the falcons trade him, the team was impatient with him, become impatient with Beck and it might come back to bite you in the butt.

I believe the rules don't specify that there is an age limit on the QB in the superbowl. Two years it took Dan Marino, Ben R. from Pittsburg went his rookie season to the AFC championship, etc. and many more examples. AGE is not a factor for talent, either you got it or you don't and I think Beck has it.

If he's ready to start then he is good enough to take us deep into the playoffs. If that takes him 2 more years, then the rest of the team is also being improved in those 2 years.

I say put as much talent around him as possible....O-Line,WR,RB,TE...the works, and let them grow together and lets see what JB can do.

Thats what I`ve been saying all along. We need a plan B

John Beck was put in THEE WORST football situation that a rookie quarterback has ever been put in.

The team was pathetic, it was injured and the players were not motivated to support a rookie qb, theu were concerned at that time about their own future.

Basically john Beck was sabotoged in a way....... AND THE KID STILL CAME BACK AND FOUGHT HIS *** OFF IN THAT FOURTH QUARTER OFF THE LAST GAME.

If the guy gets his true chance he's gonna be special.

what percentage of fans were impatient with Beck? a small spoiled minority

I barely noticed Beck with all the horror going down last year

I think most of us would like to see him start 20 games or so and mark his progress

I would also like to see us draft another QB as a hedge and competition

you indeed do have a point. i thought that too when he was in there. i felt bad for him, because this team was terrible. thats the one thing cameron was right about in his time here... was NOT starting beck this year. he was only destined to fail if we did, this team was terrible. hopefully he shakes it off, he seems like a pretty confident "kid". theres no way you can consider his play last year, as an indication of whats to come from him... he needs a fair shot this year, maybe even next year too if this team is still in disarray this year
