Pat Kirwan's article on NFL.com:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/8899069

The Dolphins have only surrendered 51 points in three games, which gives the offense a chance every week. Last Sunday, the Dolphins held Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster to a combined 63 yards on 24 carries with no run longer than nine yards. The unit forced the Panthers to the passing game and got to quarterback Jake Delhomme with four sacks. That is a formula for success in the NFL.

Good article and good for the Miami defense. I think we can have a top 5 defense this year as everybody gets comfortable in the new system.

top 5 D, now that would be great compared to last season. O plays well and executes each play and drive the ball down the field, our D will be pumped up come time for them to get on the field, they will tear heads off left and right. D is sure as hell playing great. gives me a woody everytime i see them attack the ball carrier.

imagine if we had a better secondary, it would be insane!

That is our only major weakness on our defense. When we fix that, then our defense should be in the top five for sure.

This defense will be a top 5 by next year....I can see that happening.

yea, hopefully we find somebody to take Howard's spot. once we do that, get comfortable in the new system, and eliminate those penalties we'll be looking even better.

thanks for the link.

i kinda forgot we even had a defensive coordinator, lol

HAHA -- I didn't forget but I know what you mean. Saban has his stamp on the whole defense. The coordinator is there to play a role.

The article is talking about Richard Smith putting our defense together. How many other people get the feeling that Smith will only be our DC for like a total of three years before Will Muschamp takes over? Muschamp seemed to be calling a lot of the plays on Sunday and very into it. I think Smith is just someone for Will to lean on before he takes over. Agree? Disagree?

Me too. Although at this I wouldnt be suprised if he is learning almost as much as the players.
