BEFORE FLAMING ME PLEASE READ THIS:

1. I have, am, and always will be a HUGE fan of Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas. When Saban was hired I worried most about how he would make it so ZT and JT could be the staple for this team. This is not a thread bashing on them.

2. I am not proposing to trade, cut, or bench either of them. Nor am I saying that they are done, they have plenty of game left in them.

3. This is not some desperate thread created out of frustration at today's loss or this season. This is a serious observation.

Anyways, us Dolphins fans are very naive and very very guilty of never holding any critisicm for Taylor and Thomas in the last few years. They have consistently been excempt from criticism despite poor play at times. I do it too, because I love those guys on our team. But this has to change, Taylor has been very very average and doesnt have that explosiveness to the quarterback that we are used to seeing. He looks very uninventive in his moves around the offensive line, and has missed some easy tackles. Thomas has played well, but he gets completely burned in coverage and I swear I saw him give up on a couple of plays this game and in Tennessee and Buffalo.

Its time to critisize these players while still supporting them, it would lead to better analysis of the team. Mostly we blast the secondary and worship the front seven along with Thomas and Taylor, but this shouldnt be the case, and Taylor and thomas should not be excempt from the situation..they have played as uninspired as anyone else on that defense.

I have way more problems with Mularky and DC. This is a disgrace. Blaming the defense for all this. Disgusting.

You really, honestly can say this defense didnt let you down today? last game? in Buffalo? IN pittsburgh? please, you know thats a lie

I'm a pats fan and even I know this is a lousy post

I guess it must have been the "ghost of Jason Taylor" that forced a fumble today and almost scored a TD afterwards?

JT and ZT are what keeps us from being horrible like the Raiders.

I think jason had one or two sacks and forced a fumble. I saw zack in on every play making hits. You guys expect our defense to play lights out all game long, we're going to give up some pass plays, big plays, and miss some tackles. Only the truely great defenses will not do any of that but even still, they can't do it every week. There weren't many teams that didn't give up some pts this wk. Some of u people's expectations are pretty rediculous. they scored 17 pts on us. There has not been a single game we've played in that we havn't been in. Some of you people act like we're getting blown out. Even though we lost, I still saw some improvement. Once our offense starts consistently moving the ball and limiting their penalties, our defense will improve because they will not be on the field as much. We lost the game because our offense lost it for us. Houston has a pretty decent offense, I'm not suprised we lost, sort of expected it. We played a team that was more desperate then we are, that is further along in their offense. We were one or two plays from winning it. I'm not ashamed of this team and felt they improved even though they lost.

We need a miracle to happen and have great play from our o-line.

It seems like the popular thing to do, to blame the people that are in key positions. If our o-line magically gets better, our offense will to. If Mularkey can get a brain and play to our strengths and not try to do things we're not capable of, ex. the first play of the game, knowing full well our pass protection sucks, he chooses a double fake handoff and Pepp gets sacked before he turns around. Those plays take way too long to develop. Pepp is not the problem, I felt ronnie may have taken a step back this wk with hitting the holes, he seemed to dance more. But he did really well catching passes and blocking.

Our defense had five sacks, one INT, one Fumble recovery, how is it that our defense failed us again? They gave up one big play and W. Allen lost his mind on Carrs bootleg.

the most points our defense has allowed is 17 points I think. dont remember the score of the pitt game.

our o line is terrible. our playcalling is terrible. RB had 12 rushes today. we ran shotgun what seemed like the entire game. we had false starts at crucial parts of the game. it was second and thirty at one point I think.

some ppl need to wake up. cpep has been fine for three weeks.
the defense is fine. our o line needs to step up.

this should be obvious to anyone who watches the games.

While I agree that the offense is the big issue, the defense shouldn't get away unscathed either.

They have basically played well, but have made a bunch of average QB's look far better than they are. Think what may have been if Kerry Collins hadn't missed a whole handful of wide-open receivers.

Also, the teams we've been playing lately aren't exactly offensive powerhouses, either. I have a feeling some fans wouldn't be saying such things if we had been playing good offenses.

While I don't agree with the original poster's premise about JT and ZT, the pressure hasn't been that great this season and Caper's blitz packages have been pretty ineffective, often leaving too many guys open.

So while as a unit they've performed better than the rest of the organization, it's not saying a whole lot. This team is pretty much a mess all the way through.

The reality is that we are not close to winning anything...

and both JT and ZT are untradeable anyhow...you might as well let them finish their careers here. The time to try and move JT was a few years ago...now, unfortunately neither one will win a bowl.

I agree, the defense hasn't faced the best offenses. A. Johnson and E. Moulds are two really good recievers though and for the most part we kept them in check. A. Johnson got that big play on us, but up untill then we held him check. If we get better help from the saftey on that play, it's either intercepted or knocked down. To ask for our CBs to hold single coverage all game long is alot to ask for. I want improvement in our safties and more pressure up front. Our blitzes are pretty ineffective thus far.

how can you say this who has been doing that much better than them both on the defense look at the numbers zach is still making tackle after tackle and i know until now he has done little but JT had a solid game as well 2 sack and fumble recovery arent bad

The Offense let me down today a lot more than the D did. Culpepper was a joke out there. Mularkey reminds me why we fired Wanny.
