If he gets suspended I think we get even more cap room because of something to do with a bonus clause.

I think he was supposed to make $9.2 million this year and if he gets suspended they can reduce that by $6 million.
However, I thought in a trade the entire salary comes off the books regardless.

I thought in a trade the cap space off the books is calculated Salary minus percent of prorated Bonus. But I am normally wrong about cap #'s lol.

On SC earlier it was mentioned that our cap went up to around 21..but of course thats not the exact number you were looking for, I`m sure.

Why would we lose out if hes suspended? Wouldnt his whole salary come off our books? Sorry Im not to sure about contracts and terms and clauses....I would assume his whole salary is on the BEars including the signing bonus...

My understanding is that bonuses can be spread over the length of the contract, so the remaining balance of his bonus that was to be spread out over the next three seasons counts solely in this years cap figures.

Its actually opposite the way I understand it.
I believe the way it works is When you trade a player his Salary does come off the books but his prorated Guaranteed Bonus gets accelerated the year he is is traded.
So essentially lets use easy #s 10 mill salary 2 Mill Prorated Bonus = $8Mill cap space by trading him. But if he gets suspended his bonus is no longer guaranteed so we save the full amount of his salary.
