Miami is sitting a $7.7M under the cap, without McCain, Fields discount, and some other minor details factored in. Clay, Ellerbe, Wallace, and maybe Pouncey will change this a lot.

As of now, we have $19M for next year, based on a $150M cap. This will also change some with McCain, etc.

Add in $7.9M in dead money and Wheeler's $4.9M salary puts us at $31.8 under with Suh. Then there are Wallace, Grimes, Wake and Ellerbe, which combined is around $40M.

We made the right move in giving Suh the $28M in 2016, and a Tannehill long term deal will not kick in with BIG money until 2017, when Suh's deal comes down and Wallace, Wake, Grimes, and Ellerbe will be gone

There have been some surprises so far on what the team has done but, we are still in good shape.

Sounds good, as long as we take care of Tannehill before his 5 year option kicks in. It's something like 16 mil for that one season right?

I can't see the option happening. Much more likely is a new deal with a low cap hit in 2016, and a big hit in 2017. Makes sense to both sides.

Spotrac has us at committed salary of $128,397 million for 2016, and Wheeler's contract and dead money from 2014 are already taken out for that figure. How are you getting $31.8M under?

thanks for the update...I was wondering about this and now I know

Finally someone who gets it! Why dont others realize we will do exactly what we did with Suh for TH and anyone else we resign next year. (Push the cap to the following year)

As far as Tannehill's option goes, this is how I see it. If he is a "franchise QB", he will get a long term deal that will average more than that. If we are still unsure, we can use the option one more year. If he fails, we let him go and find someone else.

OTC has $131M committed, with Wheeler's 2016 salary still in there, as it should be. He is on the books until June, same as if he were still with the team. You may want to double check that.

Wheeler is still on there because he is a June 1st cut, but he will have dead money hitting us in 2016 because of that. We are using the June 1st designation to save money towards this years cap, but we still have to account for that savings next year. His cap hit for 2016 will be $2.8 mil in dead money. The dead money from 2015 is already not counted towards the 2016 cap. It doesn't get added to the $150 being projected.

Edit: You can use the calculator on OTC to designate Wheeler as a 2015 June 1st cut, and immediatly see the effect it has when you click on the 2016 summary. It shows us at $127,711 committed after cutting Wheeler. That minus McCain's $3.5mil cap hit should be the current 2016 cap space.

I'm adding in his 2016 salary, which has nothing to do with the June 1 designation on this year's cap hit.

I'm not adding to the cap, just to cap space. The dead money was not entered in to the OTC numbers, as they were the same before the cuts.

just making sure... sorry to ask.... what do we have left now for 2015???

You don't do that. It's simple. If we have $150 million cap in 2016 and $127 million in committed salary, then $23 million IS the amount of cap space.
