Dolphins get the the highest grade in the AFC. Now sign Mathis and turn that A into A+.

Bills and Jets received an A- and the Pats got a D

With the offseason complete, it's time to hand out report cards for each AFC team's performance over the past few months

A

Dolphins: They reeled in the prize of free agency, DT Ndamukong Suh, nicely revamped the wideout corps — perhaps most importantly dumping malcontent Mike Wallace and his contract — and locked up core players (QB Ryan Tannehill, C Mike Pouncey) for the rest of the decade. First-round WR DeVante Parker could be a home run, though he won't have to hit any right away — which is good in light of his foot issues. Round 5 RB Jay Ajayi could be a major producer out of the chute.

I see off season grades much like I view national signing day. Chemistry and development are much more important than pedigrees. But we've fixed a lot of the team and I'm excited to see how that translates. In the end, Philby, Lazor, and Coyle have their best players since we've been here and we'll know by December if they should be coaching the team next year.

I look at it not from a personnel stand point, but did they attempt to address needs. It was glaring that the Run D was porous and a large reason for the collapse last year. So what did they do? Signed the best FA and best DT available. It was also glaring that despite having one of the highest paid WR corps in the league, that their money was wasted. So what they do? Revamp their WR's. Also it was evident that this regime has guts, enough to cut all the dead weight, like Ellerbe and Wheeler and take the cap hit now. Sure there are other areas we need to address, but it seems there is a plan in place.

I agree with Daytona Fin, grab Mathis and kick the tires on Briggs.

I tell you. I'm really looking forward to this season but I still expect the Dolphins to **** us like always.

Get that OL sorted and reliably healthy and we have us a contender.
