usa today-LT the money position

with a rushing rank of 11th last year, I wonder how much of an improvment we can make? Tougher schedule and not suprising anyone with the wildcat might drop are rushing statics, but getting Jake Grove, and a healthy Donald Thomas and Justin Smiley... just maybe we can get in the Top 5. We have the talent on the Oline to do it.

We could get A LOT BETTER. 11th basically is middle of the pack. We were about 118 yds/g. The 19th ranked team was at 110 yds/g...only 8 yds drops you down to 19th.

Then go looks at the leaders...they are in a completely different tier...Giants-157, Falcons-152, Panthers-152, Ravens-148, Vikings-146....

You then have a very quick drop-off of 21 yards within 4 teams...if you dropped 21 yards from where we are...that would encompass 17 teams...

So, basically you have about 4 tiers...the top teams I mentioned, those in between, the average teams (that's us) and the really sucky running teams (Detroit, Colts, Cards...the opposite of the spectrum from where our FO sees us.)

All this comes down to 1 fact....WE HAVE VERY MUCH ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT BEFORE WE ARE A "TOP-TIER" RUNNING TEAM...but we will be...:woot:

Good quote "The pot is starting to boil with offensive linemen," retired center LeCharles Bentley says. "You see it with the teams that built around them. You see the culmination of that success."
