USC Pro Day-LB Rivers impresses, OT Baker & TE Davis don't

I'm still on the Chris Long wagon. Otah and Cherilus or Williams is just as good as long IMO and we have a LT already.

Otah and Williams will NOT be around at 32. Cherilus may not either.

Long (Jake) is the right call.

Hills (Tex) Collins(Kan)Nicks(Neb) and my favorite Barry Richardson (Clemson) will be there if those others are gone. This is a very deep T draft. Duane Brown from VT would be a very good project IMO. At 6'5" 308 pounds the converted TE is said to have more upside than anyone and has all the skills to be a LT in the NFL.

I agree. Most people have those guys gone in round 1. The second and third round talent guys haven't been impressing so far when given the chance and Baker is a perfect example.

Many scouts seem to feel that Jake Long is NOT going to be a successful left tackle in the NFL. Maybe a pretty good right tackle but not a left tackle.

No they don't and if they do then they're wrong. Jake will be a very good LT and the whole line about him being a RT arises from the belief that he's a better run than pass blocker. Probably a very true statement, but even then he's still the best if not one of the best pass blocking tackles in the draft. He also has a ton of upside and can improve greatly.

LOL, woot

I don't think so. Richardson is a great pass blocker and great run blocker. He is also an AllAmerican that has started every game since he was a freshman against real competition every week. Even UNC puts out better D-lineman than the Big 10. Duke is close.LOL

If Vernon Carey can play solid LT then LOng should be a very good LT.
Anyone who thinks Long cannot be a top level LT just has never watched him play enough.

You said it right there. Long is better than Carey at LT. If Long isn't a good Lt then what the heck do we have Carey playing LT????

Would you people quit acting like you know Long will be good and saying he is better than Carey. Carey gave up 3 sacks and HB's ran for 5+ yards a carry behind him. Quit trying to blow smoke up peoples tails on the very unproven and weak Jake Long. I say weak because he has about the lowest bench max of any T in the draft at 380. He probably has trouble doing a push-up.

Look it's obvious you have man crush on Chris Long. No one is saying Chris Long isn't any good.

Just because you want us to draft him doesn't change the fact the Jake Long is very possibly the guy we pick.

Jake Long is weak? He put 225lbs 37 times. Last year Joe Thomas did it only 28 times.

As for him being unproven that's simply rediculous. EVERY player in the draft is unproven.

Just because Chris Long's old man was a specail player doesn't guaranty his son will be.

I think either one of them will be good pick.

If anyone is blowing smoke it's you! :sidelol:

We have young LT that gets the job done well. Their is no sense drafting someone for RT when he will command LT money. He played against inferior competition and his overall strength isn't very good. He is stiff and slow in run blocking and their is better athletes with more potential and a higher upside IMO. As a matter of fact scouts say that he can't play LT because he can't handle the secondary pass rush moves. People assuming jake can do as well as Vernon and stating it as fact need to realize that. It has nothing to do with your ignorant man-crush cheap shot.

Who are these "many" scouts your talkng about. When they provide strenghts and weaknesses is there a single prospect they write about that they don't try to find something. This supposed weakness is a real reach for a report.
