Valandui's 1000th post extravaganza: Canty to Miami?

In honor of my 1000th post on here, I would like to post this article I just found. What does it have to do with my 1000th post? Nothing. It's just an interesting article.

Kinda hard to get excited when they don't even know what round he was drafted. I'm all for bringing him in. Of course I don't think he'll get a monster contract from us, but maybe that's just a ploy to get the Cowboys to cough him up, who knows.

He isn't comming to Miami at 18 million guaranteed and 50 million plus . . . that is for damn sure.

We are fine at DE anyways.

If Canty's agent thinks he going to get anything close to the contract Kelly received last year, he is being delusional. I know he said they have to start somewhere around there could be just a starting point but I do hope, for Canty's sake, they have a more realistic offer in mind.

PS: Congratulations on your 1,000th post.

Congrats Valandui!

We need to get to the QB on a more consistent basis, not tie up that much $$$ in someone whos job is about covered with 3-4 players already on our roster....

Congrats. No doubt you've silenced all the doubters and naysayers who told you that reaching this lofty milestone was beyond your postability, eh.

I'm pleased to commemorate it by deservedly bumping you a few reputation pts.

I think Canty would be an upgrade to Vonnie Holliday. Plus, with his age, he and Langford as starters could play together for quite some time. You've also got good depth with Randy Starks, and potentially Lionel Dotson and Rodrique Wright.

Merling is also solid, but a move like this could potentially free him up to move to SOLB if it's in the cards. I'm not sure how likely it would be based on his improvement down the stretch at DE, but something to keep in mind.

I just dont see any reason to spend another 5 million a year for a roational guy.

Right On!!! This guy can say all he wants how he is a BP guy but you don't pay a DE with his performance 50M! We drafted well at DE and will continue for ALOT cheaper than this clown. He will be sitting around for a LONG time waiting for 18M guaranteed and a 50M deal.

He'd start for us, and he'd be around for much longer than Vonnie Holliday would. With a tandem of Canty and Merling, you've got your 3-4 DEs set for quite some time. Randy Starks gives you a valuable 3rd option that can play DT on passing downs, and Merling you could potentially move to OLB or rotate him as necessary and let him get after the QB on passing downs as well.

Why would he start over merling or lanford. I personally dont see him as an upgrade to either.

Congrats!!!

I totally forgot to put the token Miami Dolphins topic in my 1000th post thread, so I got mine moved :(

i find myself amazed at how people want to sign a thoroughly average Canty with good players already at that spot to like 5 mill but scoff at giving Crowder 5 million a year.

I'd prefer to see Holiday restructure his deal, which he should b/c he's not going to get paid good money too many places, and I'm sure he would prefer to retire a Fin. Come next year we can see who will be available or pick up another roational player via the draft... Spending big bucks on this guy just doesn't seem to make sense with the amount of holes on the team.
