Which position is more valuable early in the draft? I'm leaning toward CB. I think we should take a shut down corner at 8 and draft LB with our second pick. Hargreaves looks solid and if he's anything like Joe Hayden he's worth the pick.

Ramsay if we get the cocaine rumors started now. Otherwise, Myles Jack, though, that is starting to look like it's going to require getting him an invite to a Pouncey house party too.

The only LB worth taking at 8 is Jack and he'll be gone. A corner makes sense but a pass rushing DE could make sense too. Our top 3 DEs are all a ? Wake is 33 and coming back from season ending surgery and doesn't want to take a pay cut. OV is not worth 15mill so he might be gone and Shelby who at best is a 3rd DE is also a free agent who wants to get paid as a starter.

Corner is a higher value position...

I reeeeeaaaaaaly want Hargeaves in the 1st.

... Depending on who's available in the second - that's when I'm thinking LB.

Linebackers are usually safer picks in the first round and more NFL ready. Very few CBs come into the league ready for what a pro offense can throw at them. Getting a top LB helps hugely with the run defense as well as pass.

Our secondary has been pretty bad for a long time. I've never seen a team give up so many third in longs in the past few years. I'd like to see us gain some speed on the back end and get another playmaker to go along with Jones. I wouldn't mind getting a veteran Mike in free agency. Someone who has already played the position at a high level professionally.

corner is the more premium position, no question. if you're talking 3-4 OLBs, then you've got a discussion. but 4-3 OLBs? not even close.

it's all irrelevant though. if you have a scheme diverse shutdown corner that you can put on an island and start day 1 staring you in the face at pick 8 - especially given our DB situation - you teleport that card up there. pick him and forget about one corner position for a decade ... kind of like what i thought we were doing with vontae

Jack is my guy if he's there at 8, but I would not be upset if the pick is Hargreaves at all.
Shaq Lawson and Spence should be strong considerations too.

If Miami can't get either Hargreaves or Jack, I'd elect for a trade down (if available) and pick up another second or third. Obviously I have no idea if that'll happen.

But if Jack and Hargreaves were both gone, and you had to pick at 8, I would take the best available defensive or offensive lineman. Would hate to spend a pick on OT or DT in the first round, but sometimes that's how it falls. Better than to reach on a player that might make it to your second round pick

What about Jalen Ramsey? I'm a Florida State guy and the kids a stud! Who's the most complete Corner in the draft right now? I'm talking day one starter, plug and play type of guy.

Vernon Hargeaves III was the guy I originally wanted, but consider the type of defense we were, and probably will be again (Huge pressure), Myles Jack might be the better pick. I would be very happy with either one.
