Report: Vance Joseph to be hired as #Dolphins defensive coordinator http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachp...o-be-hired-as-dolphins-defensive-coordinator/

Now yeah people will get scared because he is a Cincy DB coach much like our last DC was. Little background on Joseph, he was DB coach in SanFran and Houston before going to Cincy in 2014. He was actually Kubiak's first choice to be DC in Denver but the Bengals blocked him. Marvin Lewis and Mike Smith love Joseph and Lewis even said he thought Vance would replace him.

Joseph's contract with the Bengals expires at season's end so no asking permission to talk to him.

Assts joining Vance Joseph's staff @Bengals Matt Burke (LBs) #Bears Clint Hurt (DL) #Cowboys Jerome Henderson (DBs) source tells @NFLonFOX

He coached under Wade Phillips. Say what you will about him as HC, but Wade is a great DC. Hopefully Vance picked up a thing or two from him.

I am excited about Joseph. Sounds like he makes great relationships with his players. HUGE for this defense coming form Coyle.

moving fast .... real advantage to making the first hire.

I don't know much about this guys, but I be excited (again) untill proven wrong ( hope not again)

Goog luck to Gase and Joseph

Looks like Vance Joseph actually interviewed for the HEAD coaching position with Denver. Then, when Kubiak was selected, he wanted to bring Joseph aboard and the Bengals blocked it. Was Denver seriously looking at him as head coach or was it a Rooney Rule thing? Who knows?

Hiring a DB coach from Cincy to be our DC. Sounds familiar.

Joseph is well regarded as a position coach, but Coyle was as well. Hoping for the best.

Joseph was CB coach when Coyle was DB coach. Does that mean Coyle was his boss? Not sure how that hierarchy works.

I wonder does Coyle get the DB job in Cin?

Happy we got Jerome Henderson, I'm surprised Dallas let him go.

That was a defense as deficient in talent as any in the NFL, somehow the last 2 seasons though Dallas's defense has performed really well. I still don't know how they did it.

I was wrong about Gase, he does have a real staff to back him up. I'm getting more excited About this by the minute.

From when Cinci wouldn't allow Joseph to interview:

Last week during the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, Lewis told Bengals.com and the Cincinnati Enquirer that the decision to block Joseph, one of the Bengals' co-defensive backs coaches, from leaving for Denver was "a hard one."

It was so hard because team president Mike Brown recognizes Joseph's value, Lewis said on the television show Thursday.

"My boss and owner sees him as a star," Lewis said, "and a guy that, as I told Vance, he could be sitting in my chair very quickly."

Lewis then added, laughing: "It could be next year."

Viewed in several NFL circles as an up-and-comer in the coaching ranks, the 42-year-old Joseph had been granted permission by the Bengals to interview for the Broncos' head-coaching vacancy that came open when John Fox was fired following Denver's divisional-round playoff loss to Indianapolis. Four days after Joseph's interview, former Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak was announced as Fox's replacement.

It's interesting we're going for a young coaching staff. I like it.
