Chill..we are AHEAD in the game.
I won't pretend to be an expert by any means, but I'm not sure what folks expect Joseph to do when you look at the talent we have on that defense. Outside of a solid front 4, we don't got much. Jones is out. Howard (who despite being a fairly raw rookie is one of our better players) is out. Our LB's are trash. Our starting corners are a converted wide receiver and Byron freaking Maxwell. Not sure what he can do to mask such terrible talent deficiencies.
Just a lack of starting caliber NFL talent in there right now. The back 7 is literally functioning down 5 capable starters. Jenkins is not the same player, Butler is a reserve guy . . . so is Thomas/Maxwell/Lippett. Only IAQ and Kiko. Lack of instincts, awareness, tackling ability, etc. Can only do so much . . . the Branch horse collar doesn't happen, defense only gives up 6 points.

This is the truth. I find it alarming that Gase considers Xavien Howard, a rookie, the "2nd or 3rd best player" on the D. Even the solid front four is underperforming considering the $ and names. They have one more half to turn it around! WAKE UP

VJ has had a great past couple of games play calling. Give him a break.
Take away the dumb horse collar by Branch and it's a different stat line for the Jets O.
VJ called the perfect play on dropping back Phillips in coverage knowing Fitz was going to stare down that middle of the zone with that down and distance. His halftime adjustments have been solid and our biggest problems weren't even playcalls; it was DB coverage. Just wait until Culliver & Howard are in there. Let's keep building people.

This is his first year as a DC and already done lightyears better than Coyle even after years under his belt of being DC with us.
VJ has had several fantastic playcalls this year. Yes he has had his share of blunders being a rookie DC, and a lot of the negative plays are from having subpar DBs back there. Look what he is working with...
