I am all for drafting J Long but I believe he will start at RT and only switch if we can't resign Carey next yr. Carey has been moved around alot in his career and needs some stability. From what I have seen from J Long he is one mean SOB, that just beats up those across from him. He will always struggle with speed but like Carey after he roughs up his opposition for 3 qtrs that speed slows down a bit.

Nice, I personally like Vernon Carey. When we drafted him I was happy we went O-line but not sure about Carey. After his first 2 season I was thinking "BUST". But last season has really changed my thoughts on him. I think his first 2 bad years were kind of the result of poor play around him and of course being switched around like crazy. If Parcells says get Jake Long and switch Carey to the right I'm fine with that but I think Carey did great at left tackle. One thing I noticed is it seemed like whenever our QB got creamed and fumbled he got hit from the middle of the line, not blindside. Good stuff...I guess.

Luckily with Carey we have that Luxury of his ability to play both RT and LT. That way if we go J. Long and he isn't suited for LT (which would be against BP/Ireland/Sparano's assesment, no way would they use the #1 on a RT) we are covered either way.

I really hope we up Carey and not let him go after this year.

If we don't draft Jake Long, I'm still happy with Carey at LT. He had a solid year I thought.

Carey was definitely solid this year. He struggles with speed rushers on occasion, but he also holds his own most of the time. In the run game, Carey dominates more often than not. I think he is a natural RT so I'm hoping we can find a LT somewhere in the 2nd round.

I have absolutly no problem taking Jake Long #1 and putting him at RT. RT, while not as valuable as LT, is still very valuable. And anytime you can get an All-Pro type of player, you do it. I think JLong could be one of the best RTs in the league... and I have no problem spending the #1 pick on a player that should be one of best in the league at his position...
