Dolphins: Aware some wonder whether he has the ideal mobility to play left tackle, Vernon Carey is losing 10 pounds to accommodate his move -- he's halfway there at 341. ''I'm moving my feet well enough,'' he said.

I was under the impression that he was in the low 330's to begin with. Not that he was at 346 and trying to get down to 336. The Florida heat though, should take care of that extra weight pretty fast.

I don't think any of us noticed the weight gain since he's been playing RT for the past year and a half or so. Putting him on the left side should make him work harder a lot more.

He didnt look overly fat yesterday afternoon...

I would be interested in some feedback from anyone who is at training camp seeing it live. Does he look overweight? Does he have any quickness especially in pass protection?

Should learn a lot once the pads come on...

He had been overweight before TC in the past. He can lose it (or gain it) quickly. Besides, I had considered him more of a Jonathan Ogden (best OT to ever come out of UCLA) type of LT. Ogden's 345 so I'm not too worried about Carey's 341.

He looked absolutly fine yesterday. Quick... and only got beat once by Holiday... but it had more to do with his wrist getting hurt on that play than him getting beat...

Ogden is 6'9". Carey is 6'5". They are completely different body types. Ogden is a fairly lean 345, while Carey packing 341 is not even close to the same body fat measurement. Carey needs to be 330 maximum in my opinion to maintain his quickness.

I trust the Dolphins brass has the target weight listed for each player and Carey will need to hit that weight.

Trust me when I say it as hot as hell during TC. I think I lost about 5lbs just sitting in the stands! lol

He will be fine...

people say that brown is the key this year. I think the key this year is the o line and he is a huge part of it. If he has a great year it means we had a great offense. He is the key to this season.

One of the things alot of people are not really considering here is that a players listed weight is not really what they are at any given time. Linemen are often heavier. I remember right before Tim Bowens had his Pro Bowl season he was something ridiculous like 380 pounds reportedly. Jason Taylor susposedly weighed in at 235 before the Bears game last season. Early last season, Zach Thomas dropped under 220 pounds, so on and so forth.

From what I've heard, he was decently quick. He'll lose it in time. That's what preseason and TC is for.

The listed weights are rarely accurate.

Damion McIntosh played 30 pounds heavier than his listed 320 last year. JT was 237 before the Bears game. Zach got down to about 215. And he's never been 5-11. Vonnie Holliday played at 273. Does anybody believe Keith Traylor is 337 pounds?

Heck, I remember Daryl Gardener reporting at a ripped 360 in the late 90s.
