If we bring someone in at G or even C (which I do not see happening), then the idea i keep hearing is that Carey moves back to "his spot" at RT.

My thought is that is no good. And the reason why is that Carey is mentally not there whether it be G or T. Last year he was lazy lots and really lost his star as far as i am concerned. Moving him to RT does not solve the problem to me. Back to square one.

People want to put Pouncey at G. Dont understand that either other than his pulling ability. But then Center becomes a problem because a new guy comes in just before season starts and this offense is not easy to just pull out the stops. Pouncey was drafted as a C and Center was our biggest problem spot last year.

People had problems with TS moving people around last year and now he is not and is sticking with his guys but now, everyone has changed their minds and say "move it now!" Well, that is not the answer either.

If one guy to me out there can come in at RT and play G if needed is Leonard Davis. I also think Garner and Murtha would be fine if we do not sign anyone. The problem really comes in should any one of our guys go down with injury.

I do not have a problem with Sparano "holding his fire" here. It is down the line in midseason when things start happening. I just hope we get some guys off other PS that could really come around come midseason.

I agree with you, we got to leave Pouncey at C. He's got to learn as much as he can and it's critical to not play with the confidence of our 1st round pick. The idea behind drafting Pouncey was to lock up 2 of the 5 starting spots on the OL for the next 10 years with Long obviously at LT.

Now these guys better wake up and sign AT LEAST 1 another veteran, preferably Gurode or Davis and get him ready to play ASAP at the RG spot. For the RT spot, maybe you can move back Carey there or let Murtha and Garner battle with Colombo. 1 of these guys must get his act straight and finally take control of this pathetic battle. With Long back, the left side will take care of itself and Pouncey will only get better at C.

I was thinking yesterday that when Incognito is 1 of the sure things on this line, it's reaaaaaaaaaaaaally frightening to say the least...

There are three starters right now you DO NOT touch, Long, Pouncey and Incognito. Long is the no brainer as to why so move on. Pouncey was drafted to be a center, let the kid play center until he proves he can or can not. Incognito, say what you will be he has been a consistent pick up and player the last two seasons and he locks up the left guard positions.

The rest of the line however needs some serious work.

Carey fits much better at RT, there was absolutely no justification in moving him inside.

Everyone forgets just how good he was in 2009 and before. He should be allowed to move back outside, and if he doesn't work out, cut him outright. This half-assed crap has got to stop.

And our RG answer is sitting out there in Brian Watters.

Vernon is good at tackle and is just too slow for guard. Our left side of the line does not seem nearly as bad as right side and that's without long. So when we get long back then left side is fine. Right side is the problem. Move Carey to right tackle and get a right guard.

If anyone takes the RT spot from Columbo at this point it's going to be in-house. You're absolutely right that continuing to shuffle multiple pieces along the line at this point will only stunt the development of the entire group, and there isn't a free agent available who can come in and learn this scheme well enough to be an upgrade between now and the 12th. Short-term, what we need is for Garner to push for one of these 2 positions (RG, RT) well enough to either take it or force Carey/Columbo to up their game. Murtha needs some practice reps on the right side so we can see if he'd be able to hold his own there. If we're able to get some post-cut gems who are fast learners, then maybe (just maybe) they could contend with one of the 2 underperforming veterans and provide an upgrade. But for now this is the line we live and die by. I'm certainly not thrilled with it, but any sort of panick move will only backfire.

Cut COLUMBO outright. He sucks, and if he's a back-up, all it means is that he'll be waiting for a chance to suck some more. Move CAREY to RT, where he was good. Then pick up the best G available, cut JERRY and BERGER, and go w/it.

There were A LOT of very solid F/A Gs available early in F/A. MIAMI didn't go after a single one, which is a sad commentary on these 2 knuckleheads. If I were ROSS,...

But he took a pay cut to move to G. I dont think he/they will do that. Besides, Carey sucked at RT and was nowhere near the level he played at 2-3 years ago. He mentally is just not bringing it. I played OL in HS and its the one spot where you can not be soft mentally if anywhere else for that matter. If he is looking slow and unresponsive at RG then who is to say he will be faster and mentally sound at RT? Last year, he got beat often too.
