Alright co-mvp along with Ronnie Brown. I must admit that I wanted Miami to take Wilfolk when Miami was on the clock and even felt a little disgusted when Wanny/Spielman traded a 4th rounder to move up one spot to get Vernon. But IMO Vernon Carey has been completely overlooked this year and not getting the respect he deserves. I think Vernon has turned into the best OL we have had since Richmond Webb.

First, Vernon worked his butt off (literally) and came into TC in great shape. Second, the one play that has been successful all year has been to Run-Ronnie-Right (behind Vernon that is). Third, Vernon is playing at a pro bowl level with the RG position being a revolving door this year.

The following are Ronnie's stats when he runs directly behind Vernon Carey and around right end vs. when Ronnie runs behind RG, middle, LG, LT or left end according to play-by-play transcripts on nfl.com

Pittsburgh:
When Ronnie runs behind Vernon: 4 carries 20 yards 1 TD
When Ronnie runs behind others: 11 carries 10 yards 1 TD

Buffalo:
behind Vernon: 6 carries 33 yards
behind others: 9 carries 37 yards

Tennessee:
behind Vernon: 11 carries 41 yards
behind others: 15 carries 59 yards

Houston:
behind Vernon: 1 carry 9 yards
behind others: 11 carries 40 yards

NE:
behind Vernon: 3 carries 6 yards
behind others: 14 carries 33 yards 1 TD

NYJ:
behind Vernon: 13 carries 98 yards
behind others: 9 carries 29 yards 1 TD

GB:
behind Vernon: 4 carries 29 yards
behind others: 11 carries 30 yards

Chicago:
behind Vernon: 10 carries 89 yards
behind others: 19 carries 68 yards

KC:
behind Vernon: 6 carries 28 yards 1 TD
behind others: 19 carries 61 yards

SEASON TOTAL:
behind Vernon: 58 carries 353 yards 2 TD...average of 6.09 yards per carry
behind others: 176 carries 357 yards 3 TD...average of 3.03 yards per carry

Hello Mularkey...RUN-RONNIE-RIGHT! Hello Ronnie...buy Vernon a car, rolex or dinner every night (healthy food) to keep this guy motivated to keep blocking for you.

There is one play that sticks in my mind with Vernon. It was either against the Pats or Jets when Joey threw a pick and Vernon avoided blockers and nailed the DB that picked off the ball. That one play displayed just how athletic he is.

some major hw, thanks man very interesting stats, its greatly appreciated!!

GOod stuff man, now if we can only get 4 more of him...we would be championship material. I must admit though, they are playing well the last couple games, things are starting to gel.

I thought he was a bust. :shakeno: along with roonie & J allen. great post.

Just another reason for some of the " rookies are busts" posters on here to relax. It dosen't happen overnight for a majority of rookies that end up good players.

Some great info there Reno.

well i remember scouts saying that vernon had talent but it would take him time because he was a really slow learner

who woulda thunk it?
