is there a possibilty that Vernon Carey might move inside to guard now with the signing of Mike Pearson? i dont think it would be a bad move and i think it would allow us to use our depth more effectively. i think that i might be practical to cut Jeno James on June 1st because of his age (he'll be 30 by next year) and contract hit. might be something to consider.

Honestly I think the best 5 will make the starting line up. If that means shifting players, then so be it.

As for Jeno, I think he stays around for another year.

I thnk Carey moving inside now makes sense. James has underperformed since he got here, imo. But his age is not a huge factor yet. Olinemen mature late and can play to 33-35 frequently.

I agree. I've always liked Carey as a better prospect for guard then tackle. I think the signing for Pearson is a plus for us, and Carey can play at guard. Hopefully he can maintain the position.

Jeno will stay around for another year and picture this starting lineup.

Lt L.J. Shelton- Lg Jeno James- C Seth Mckinney ugh or Rex- Rg Rex Hadnot Rt Vernon Carey. Looks pretty decent accept for Seth. I was wondering can Mike Pearson or Mcintosh be our starting right tackle put Vernon at Rg and move Rex to center. That looks better but I don't know if Pearson or Mcintosh is up to the task to take that right tackle spot full time.

saban now has 2 options at RT...mcintosh and pearson...if mckinney does not pan out, he'll put hadnot there, move carey to RG and put either one of these 2 players at RT...

i think the OL is shaping up nicely...

Pearson isnt going to start for us, and if he did, we would probably be in deep ****. so carey isnt moving inside...

Are you kidding me? Jeno James was the most consistent OL last year and you want to cut him. Get real.

carey was a guard throughout most of his college career and seemed a step slow last year at tackle. i think moving him inside is definitely in our best interests. and rex is a true center, so benching mckinney wouldnt hurt

I agree, and also people are already sure LT is going to be LJs. I hope so but we don't know yet for sure, we all thought Mcdougle was going to start last year also. The way I see it working out is
LT- LJ
LG - James
C - Hadnot
RG - Carey
RT - Pearson
But I can also see the two tackles being flipped. Pearson is lighter and LJ could play beside Carey on the right side. This would give us better pass protection and two road graders on the right. We would also have Wade, D Mac,and Alibi for depth. I love the way our OL is looking this year. We seem to always have one season ending injury in camp, and this year it wont be so devastating.

I have a gut feeling that Carey will not be on our team by next year. Just a feeling I have. I think he will be cut sometime this year or next offseason.

No way do we cut Jeno.Stupid statement.Jeno Improved nicely under Houk. All our guys did.Jeno stays.

I agree, though I still think James has underperformed since signing a FA contract with us. He is not the road grading guard I thought he would be. Perhaps it was the coaching when he first got here. Houck has helped him and competition in camp will help him, and us, even more.

It will be very interesting to see where Houck starts Carey out and if he stays there or moves him. The early rap on him was he didn't adapt to change well. We will see this year won't we?

Carey is not a player that takes well to changing positions...He needs to be left at RT and continue to improve as he did throughout the year last year. If HH starts moving him around, he'll disintegrate into the ineffective player he was in his first year...However, I'm all for the best 5 guys starting...to be honest, Hadnot may end up at C and become our least best player this year...
Big Mac can play RG, Carey could be moved to RG (although I just don't think that is the best thing for him). Pearson, when healthy can be a pretty decent left tackle and has played RT as well. Pearson may be working his way back to respectablilty (or potential, if you prefer) from his first 2 seasons in the league...Center is still going to be a soft spot for us. Hadnot is a nice player, but not a great interior OL. Wade, Big Mac, Alabi, Pearson, and Pape represent guys who need to improve or prove themselves worthy.
