What happened to Vernon Carey?? not just today (he had a terrible game) but this whole season?

He was coming off a pretty decent season last year (relatively speaking) playing LT. This year, he was moved back to his more "natural" position of RT. Plus he's in a contract year if I'm not mistaken.

I just dont get it. Seriously, what happened to this guy this season?

He has gained weight . . . and he did have a pretty bad game, but the Oline as a whole did.

Give him above average RT money . . . and not above average LT money.

Either way, we can stand to draft more lineman and we will. That's Parcell's MO. Worked for us last offseason, why not again.

It would be nice to keep him for consistencies sake, but I think some team desperate for line help will be willing to overpay. A good right tackle could probably be found in the second or third round for significantly less.

yes, the whole O-Line sucked today. But on the season, I expected Carey to be very solid. He wasnt'.

I dont think we should give him above-average money for anything. If he'll re-sign for cheap, fine, otherwise let him walk.

Yeah I remembered one specific play today where he got beat badly and got Chad sacked. Haven't really noticed him as a liability the rest of the year though. I would say our improvement needs to come at the interior of the line. (which we may already have in D. Thomas, but not sure).

We can all obviously rest easy that Parcells and Co. will be looking to improve EVERY position from top to bottom.

Well he is gonna walk then . . . and it is easy to say let him go, but Carey is a solid RT. We already are thin at tackle . . . it would be a blow to lose Carey . . . but I agree, u don't overpay for him . . . especially after how he has performed this season. Give him what the average/above average RT makes and that is that . . . what is that? 4 million a year? He probably wont go for that.

I agree that he WAS a solid player. but he had a pretty bad season in 2008. Thats what I'm saying, I expected more from him this season after he was solid for us in the past. He definitely regressed this year.

Best thing about Vernon is that he doesn't get injured, with 2 linemane going down this year that is something we should worry about.

i was reading something a while back that said Vernon Carey is trying to hard because its a contract year and if he played more naturally he would be better.. hopefully he will stay a dolphin and sparano will help him with his feet some more i guess because he looks slow

Hopefully his poor play is a fluke and we'll be able to sign him for a modest price and fix whatever is wrong with him.

id like to say it was his weight, he is a huge man and he played alot better when they asked him to get down under 335. i don't know what he is now but he is a big boy

335?? Are you kidding me. I would bet he's 355. Carey is enormous and has too much fat on him. He needs to drop a lot of weight and report to camp in shape for once in his life.
