Vernon Carey............

I dunno...I thought Carey played as well as/better than St. Claire in the few games he did start. Personally I think he should be starting now, but maybe the coaches feel there's already too much confusion with the line and bringing in a rookie will make it worse?? I can't explain it.

i didn't read where it said a UM coach called carey dumb as a box of rocks. i read that a UM coach called him the near complete package for a OLman and where a dolphins coach called him dumb as a box of rocks. right now, it looks like we have 5 starting linemen than are dumb as a box of rocks anyway. they can either ONLY pass protect or ONLY run block in a game. who's coaching them?

I don't have the link, but it was UM coaches who said that.

Which has proven to be true by Careys inability to learn the playbook.

Spielman should have done his homework and not wasted two picks on this kid.

I love how everyone now says we should have taken Jackson.

GIVE ME A BREAK. If he would have done that, these same people would have been calling for his head. I think EVERY single person on this board either wanted a lineman or a WR in this last draft. Maybe a few Qb's. However, no one was saying take the BPA.

I agree that DT would have been nice.

Either way with Carey playing in S.Fl RS should have DEFINITELY known what he was getting!?

Think about it..............look at all the young players you saw play yesterday, Rex blanking Hadnot can start, a sixth round pick, but your first rounder, the man you gave a first and fourth for can't?

This guy is a bust and thats why they aren't talking about him.

If St Clair were hurt (like James), Carey would have been starting yesterday.

We were told?????

I must not have gotten that memo.......
As in........Press conferences, quotes in the papers.

The whole Dolphin nation was under the impression we were drafting somebody to help now, hence the urgency(choke) to trade up and not take a chance on losing out on this reach.

The whole plan of not drafting a QB last year was we needed help on the O-line this year.

If we were gonna take a project on the O-line we might as well have traded up for Rothlisberger or drafted Losman.

The whole Dolphin nation was wanting Carey back then as best I remember--he was going to the pro-bowl just like Jason Ball was a couple of weeks ago.;)

When Carey did play, he was by far the best on the line. And I wouldn't call Carey dumb for not learning the playbook, it doesn't seem like anybody on the line learned it.

Spielman should not be fired for picking Carey, he should be fired because of how he picked Carey.

It is unfair to judge a player in this offensive system. He hasn't even been given a shot yet which falls on the Wanny factor.

Webb did, Todd Wade did. We were told this kid was drafted to help now.

If he lacked the mental ability to do that it was a mistake of a pick.

This line was in dire need of immediate help, not another Eddie Blake, which is what this kid looks like right now.
There were signs. It would have taken just a little research to find out Carey was not ready for the NFL.Most scouts had him rated as a second round pick because he was a 3 yr project.

Its obvious that the Dolphins dont have a good handle on UM players.
Wilfork was the obvious pick at that spot.

Unfortunately we are paying the consequences of years of bad picks and questionable trades and the needs were overwhelming.Had we not made those mistakes we might have had the weapons to trade up for Andrews or even Roth.

Giving away the extra pick to move up to get Carey was amateurish. He jumped the gun again as he did with Feeley and later on with Ogun.Dont think other GMs have not noticed. They have his number and will continue to use pressure tactics on him to get him to jump the gun prematurely again.
