Both...I wouldn't be surprised to see Carey dangled as trade bait in the offseason....I think Gardner could be Miami's starting RT next year anyway...

totally agree, I think the FO gave him that contract last year because they didn't want another hole they had to fill, and they knew there would be no CBA so they could purge him this year.

There actualy may be something in thr works....why the hell else would we be platooning lineman in and out of the game....I could see us doing that if we had nothing to play for, but in your most important game of the year, you have O-lineman running it and out of the game????

I watched that O-line confidential clip and Vernon Carey looked like the only fat lineman we had I was thinking how does this guy stop the fast ends-backers ? and he was the only one stuffing his face. but he has played well up until the past few weeks.

I doubt we let this guy go. These guys believe in building the O-line, and Carey is to good to let go.

Here we go again. Vernon Carey is one of the best RTs in the NFL. No way we get rid of him.
That said, he has been inconsistent since the Titans game. But that doesn't mean you toss the baby with the bathwater. One play he whiffs, the next he's gold.
He probably ate too much fruitcake for Christmas.

Yes, he is dinged up but I think his weight is the biggest issue. In his defense, I read someplace that the FO wants him to be playing around 350lbs which is a mistake IMO. He was better/quicker when he was in the 320-330 range. Let him drop 20-30lbs.

he has always looked sloppy to me so that isn't a concern. as far as his health, I believe he is nursing a back injury

Carey has been way overweight and out of shape since he was drafted. He obviously does not care about losing weight and getting into shape in the off season. Makes me sick. He looks like a 400 pound blob trying to move around.

i agree, BOTH. classice recipe for this kinda disater... give out the big money... watch player get fat, slow & outta shape. when guys are hungry, guys produce. especially in Miamuh.
I think Vernon Carey is just fine and is easily the second best lineman on the team. In fact, I truly believe we have arguably the best offensive tackle duo in the league.
It's been a long injury filled season and we are getting real close to the end. Vernon is banged up and had a bad couple of games, but is still a real good RT. Our RB's ran for over 2000 yards this year these guys up front all took a beating. At least Vernon is still playing through the injuries and getting out there.
