Versatile Garner gives Miami Dolphins depth on offensive line.

BY BARRY JACKSON

``Being able to do everything is my strength,'' he said.

Garner has earned admiration by shifting between left
and right guard during games.

He said:

``It's taxing on the brain because you have to flip everything in your head. I've made the transition pretty seamless.''

Smiley explained that

``if you play on the left-hand side, you've got your left hand down
and left foot staggered. On the right side [it's the opposite].
That throws everything off. Not only do you have to do that,
you have to flip the play in your mind. Nate's done an amazing job.
It says a lot about how well he understands the offense to be able
to do that, and how tough he is.''

The development of Garner and the acquisition of Berger have given the O line some real depth. Garner was a Jets draft pick in 2008 who was shown the door very early by Mangini. It gives me great pleasure to see that the Dolphin coaches have the ability to turn a Jets reject into a really good versatile player.

Couldn't agree more.

Yea we have some reliable depth for the first time. But we still have to figure out if Smiley/D. Thomas is the way to go at guard. Both seem to be a bit injury prone . . . Thomas has been overrated since his first mini camp (still a great pick, but people had him in the pro bowl from day 1 . . . he has to stay healthy first).

Some reason, I could see us go OLine early (first 4 rounds) despite the needs a NT, ILB, OLB, WR and safety.

One positive step towards having a dangerous team every year....a DEEP Offensive Line...

I think Thomas and Garner should be the guys going forward. Smiley is still having issues from a shouder surgery that he had back in 2007.
