Lets take them to the titty bars, that should make them fill more comfortable :cooldude:
:D OOOOH YEEAAH.

LOL bro some of you are heartless. regardless of how much money these guys make they still are human. Every 3 or 4 years the military send me somewhere new. It is a terrible adjustment at first. Especially when you cant bring your family immediatly. It hurts and your mind will wander. Even worse I spent 8 years in the army and then did a lateral transfer to the Navy. That was 5 times tougher. I can see these guys pain and I do understand. However, i do know they will get use to it and perform effectively.

Who says he doesn't count his blessings? He also pays millions of dollars in taxes to the government which helps fund our military. He never sounded ungreatful about anything. We should all count our blessings. Remember Pat Tillman? Was he one of those "spoiled millionare athletes" you refer to?

Exaxtly what my point was. They may have money but they are human beings. They like being home and feeling like they are home. When you get traded like Booker and Gordon did there is a transition period that noone can eliminate. no matter what anyone says or does, he still has to acclimate himself to his new teammates and surroundings. Players get lonely just as anyone else does. Not one of them said they were unhappy here, that they didnt want to be part of the team, they merely stated that it was an adjustment, especially that close to the season. It is part of the growing pains.

Sounds like they need some of the guys on the team to hang out with and show'em the area. :(

I can agree with the article about moving to a new town. Buying a Ferrari won't do diddly. It might make you happy for a few weeks, but once the newness of it wears off, your back in the rut of  missing home/family/friends. It'll just take some time to bond with the team and players.

I would also think that the Dolphins organization would assist the new players with acclimating to their new home.

Could you imagine banging Heather Mitts, having a couple million in the bank, living in south Florida, being the starting QB for an NFL team and only having to work less than 50% of the year. My focus would be 100% on football to keep that going. Geeeeez I thought this would be an easy point to make.

I understand that these guys work hard etc... However, they are professionals and need to act as such. I've got 19-23 year old kids working for me whose job it is to separate aircraft. Thes guys and gals deploy downrange leaving behind new babies, new wives etc, and yet are professional enough to focus on their jobs and not run aircraft together or land one on top of some cow that wonders on a runway. By the same token, we do our best to take care of their families while they are gone to try and reduce their worrying...which is human nature. I would think that the Dolphins organization would help out hteir players in transition to some degree. As for the players, move your friggin family...pay your brother a salary of $100,000 to bring your family down to help them get settled in for a year or whatever. I understand that there is a difference between separating aircraft and playing football, but there really isn't a difference in professionalism, and to me it is totally unprofessional to be running around the football field (during a game) thinking about the Chicago Bears, being traded, and selling a house....jmho

So he's away from his family for a short period of time and he misses them. Big deal! It's temporary and there's worse things in life. It's also a fairly common thing for anyone to be separated from their loved ones at some point in their lives. It's called life....get used to it. These are small things compared to what life can deal ya.
Put it in perspective as the breadwinner of your family and get over it. Things could be worse.

...........I'm familiar with Pat Tillman, what's your point?

Well after being here in the Miami area for a couple of days, I can see why the players are having trouble feeling comfortable here. I am finding that it is hard to get around in this town, and it is real easy to get lost here. (Also I can't seem to locate the legendary South Beach area). Also I am not finding the residents here in the Miami area to be overly friendly(the Key West and Spacecoast residents seem a lot friendlier).
Also if you have a family, there is not enough time for the family to properly relocate. Which is tough. Also relocating makes it seem like a player is on a constant road trip.
This problem is nothing new. Back in 1995 Steve Entman came here. He never seemed to get comfortable here and his play suffered.

Many people don't realize that during the season these guys work from morning to night 6 days a week and have no free time. On their off-day after the game they're so sore they can barely get out of bed. If you got transferred to a new place and had 1 day out of the week to get settled in you might find it difficult as well.

Not me! I'm a mean SOB. I was born in the backwoods, suckled by a bear. I've got a double set of jaw teeth and double coat of hair, cast iron belly and a bucket full of cods. Don't mess with me....I'm a "Florida Cracker" by God!

I feel for them. I just moved out to Dayton Ohio and I havn't been home or been able to see my family for a month. I have lots and lots of pictures of my dog but you can't exactly wrap your arms around it or a throw a ball to it. Give the guys a break.

I can sort of see where Booker and Gordon are coming from (although Booker seems to be taking it too far, sounds like he should be on suicide watch or something), But WTF is AJ's excuse?? he's been here since the spring. Is Kurt Warner, Jeff garcia, Kerry Collins, Mark Brunell whining about being homesick? AJ has had more than enough time to adjust. The other two have a point. Their lives were overhauled and shifted in a split second. But after a few more weeks, they should shut up too.

Why are teammates not helping them get around? Why dont the Gordens/Bookers/AJs buddy up for a while? I do not understand the lack of unity.
