Falcons | Vick not understanding team's offense
Wed, 8 Feb 2006 20:39:52 -0800

Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick admitted he is "lost" about the team's offensive philosophy and wonders why the passing game doesn't use more short, slant patterns. Vick said, "We're not dinking and dunking the way it's supposed to be done. It may be hurting me. It may be hurting the offense. I'm a little lost right now."

Something tells me that the Falcons will either have to listen to him or they will trade him. They will have a new OC this season, so we will see what happens.

Dear Michael,

YOU ARE NOT A GOOD QUARTERBACK. Yes, you can run and are super athletic. Guess what, though? You continously rank among the bottom of the league in QB rating. MAYBE THAT IS WHY ATLANTA WANTS TO CHANGE THE OFFENSE!!!

Well admitting the problem is the first step to recovery. Ive been a Vick supporter for a long time but after watching him this year I think hes never going to be a good passer and will always have problems with defense that can stop the run.

Vick has never struck me as the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree anyway. Nor is he a good QB. It's obvious that he is lost because it seems most of the passes he attempts and completes are after the play has broken down....which, because of his run first mentality, is quite often.

I sue to be a Vick fan, but recently I've stoped being one. Vick is trying to become something that he's not and that's a passing QB. He already proved that he can't be a big threat in the passing game, only in the running game is when he is a threat. Vick is hurting the Falcons I think and they need to do something quick.

I think they should move Vick to running back and put Schaub in as the QB.

I wonder if the WCO offense is really the best fit for Vick. Vick would be better off in an offense that didn't require such precise and accurate passing.

Dink and dunk passing isn't vick. Mainly cause he can't run when all the defenders are near the line. They do the long routes so the receivers will take defenders from the line of scrimmage and open up running lanes for vick.

Vick is a RB!!!

hatorade anyone?

one of the best QB's in the league and you all act like he plays for the patriots...... give it a rest

I feel bad for Vick. If you watch him play, he is by far the most athletic, well rounded players in the NFL. However he is an absolutly terrible quarterback and has some of the most abismal decision making skills I have ever seen. He is fast and he can flick a bullet, 20 yards on the run. He can fire the ball like a rocket without even ****ing his arm back; he just flicks his wrist and the ball launches with the velocity of a baseball. Unfortunatly, he does not utalize that tallent to his full potential, relevent to the quarterback position.

You're so right. That's the debacle for Atlanta. For one, how do you, as an organization, come right out and say one of the most talented athletes in the NFL just isn't good enough to play the position you have him in. Atlanta could always be good and always tease their fans, but Vick just isn't talented enough to run past the more talented teams in the NFL. Unfortunately for Atlanta, they will watch all the other talent on their team go to waste by wasting time with Vick at QB.

you'd think "one of the best QBs in the league" would understand the offense he's been in for 2+ years.

I wondered about this as soon as they changed offenses. Why take a QB who was starting to play pretty well (IMO) in one offense and completely change systems just because you have a new coach? Kinda reminds you about what Saban said about either having one new coach learn an offense or asking the entire team to learn one. I know this is a little different because you had a big coaching changeover but still... He has looked lost ever since they went to the West Coast O.

like he's that bad? i'm on record saying that the only problem he has is fumbling. if he had receivers that could catch this thread would be turned around 180 degrees.
