I think most would agree Marcus Vick and Fred Gibson appear to be the front-runners for our #5 WR. I was just wondering what the consensus is around here. Who do you think will stick?

Aromashodu and/or Campbell seem destined for the practice squad, and Russell will probably be cut.

Against the Rams, Gibson had 3 receptions for 38 yards. Vick had 3 receptions for 41 yards and a TD.

As for myself, I'm predicting Vick will make the cut. And he probably should. Most 5th WRs play on special teams. Gibson hasn't played ST at all this pre-season. Vick had an incredibly heads up play against Carolina where he recovered a fumble on a punt return. Other than that, let's be honest, he hasn't made a lot of noise on ST, but he hasn't made any mistakes either. I think Vick provides solid depth at the return position.

i think Vick stick b/c of his vesatility. Gibson is more polished, but Vick's celing is much higher.

I think both will stick.

WR will be:

CHAMBERS
BOOKER
WELKER
HAGAN
VICK
GIBSON

Im from Athens, GA so I had the priviledge of seeing Freddy G blow big play after big play. The kid's hands are terrible. I don't see much of an upside for this guy and I hope the front office sticks with Aromashodu over Gibson. Athletically, I'd say they are pretty close but Aromashodu has much better hands and a better overall ability to get position and catch the ball. Oh and by the way I feel like Vick has already made this team so I think it will come down to Gibson and Aromashodu for the final WR spot.

i saw a college highlight this morning on espn where the qb threw a quick out, or a wr curl. the wr caught it, ran back some towards the qb and threw it across the field to a wide open streaking wr. I don't think gibson can do that, so I'll go with Vick for his versatility. I think the OC will use vick like that at some point.

jeezeus, campbell cannot be placed on the practice squad dude, he ain't a rookie. think about it.

<----WHAT?????

Go ahead and say What again. I dare you

Although I like the size of Gibson, I feel that Vick brings more versatility and athletisism to the table. I mean the guy is a QB that has natural talent at the WR position and can be used on KR and PR. I think he could become a great utility player for us. Jack of all trades master of none is ok in my book. I just hope he is serious about his NFL career.

Oops, you're right. He doesn't qualify. Guess that means he gets cut.

Vick is very valuable at QB. If Daunte and Joey go down, Vick could go on in and keep the emergency QB off the field. As for WR, this is to be expected. He has never played WR in his life, Gibson/Russell have, and yet Vick runs very good routes, I'd say 3rd best on the team, he has terrefic hands, and is a great blocker, he's a notch below Gibson in my opinion but only because of experienced. And Vick is the primary back up to Welker on KR/PR.
IMHO, Vick makes this team.

Gibson has looked good, but Vick has more value. By adding him to the 53 man roster, you've filled a WR spot, a backup PR spot, and an emergency QB spot all in one. Not to mention the added dimension of using Vick in trick play situations.

Vick has shown enough versatility that I don't think he would clear waivers and make the Miami practice squad. I feel it's a case of adding him to the roster, or losing him altogether.
