I agree man. More dog lovers then NBA fans. Vick wins, at least in terms of being more vile and disgusting

Thats not even close at least the Ref was probably doing it for the money while Vick already has that he wants animals to suffer for his enjoyment.

I think it is the refs situation. That is big. The Vick ordeal is big, because it is such a touchy subject and because of who he is.

I think it is the ref situation because basically we lose that trust for those that are responsible for game outcomes.

2 things to keep an eye on.

1) Most seem to think that other NBA refs had to know about this cheating ref. And if others knew, then how many others could have possibly also been working or doing the same thing. If they get this ref to "flip" he could turn in other refs.

2) This "dogfighting" is huge in the NFL from reports. And if Vick flips he could start turning in other players who might do the same thing.

Each of these stories might just be on the surface now and could be opened up in a huge way in teh days and weeks to come

The NBA Ref issue is a LOT bigger. The Dog fighting is just one or two players being stupid breaking the law... That has happened plenty before.

The REF? There have always been rumors or at the very lease whispers of the REFs not calling a "fair" game. Now there is proof? Yikes. Some of the articles in the NY Daily News now says the Ref MAY give names of other Refs or players that were also doing the same? THAT would destroy the sport. In those same articles it says the NBA was suspicious or knew of this refs bad calls and still let him call games. IF that is true, this will also take down Stern.

The truth is we don't know enough about the NBA ref story to say how huge it could be... But even if it was one ref fixing games... that is enough to set back the league a little. IF it is some of the other things coming out now, More than one ref, a player, or Stern knew about it? OH MAN... that would be devastating.

Could just be the tip of the ice berg for both cases

nba ref jeopardizes integrity of the game, vick doesnt.

On the flip side, Vick was at the very least partially responsible for the murdering, suffering, and abuse of life, no life was extinguished in the ref issue.

The NBA story is far more likely to blow up big for years to come. It's a story that crosses lines to other sports, calling refs in all leagues into question. Everybody has seen a bad call in sports, now when we see a call that we believe is wrong we are going to stop and actually wonder why it was a bad call... was it because of a crooked ref?
If the NBA can isolate this one official and show that it is a one time freak occurance, then maybe it will go away. However, if there is evidence of other officials doing the same thing it could get ugly real fast. Once a sports' credibility is called into question the fans get angry.
Vick is a single player who might go to prison. His situation doesn't upset the balance of the entire league. Crooked officals with Mob gambling debts is a serious problem for the NBA.
