Video: New Dolphins lineman Shelley Smith: I’m fine on left or right side

So not one of Joe's cerebral guys? Whatever, as long as Smith knocks the snot out of the guy in front of him I don't care.

Smith has a run block "altitude of attitude" which is as good or better that Cog at his best. IF Benton can get his to pass block, he will be a very welcome addition. Just think of him and Pouncey on short yardage.

Not really a fair assessment to make based on solely that video.

Actually, I thought that he answered every question well. Came across as honest and eager to help. He may not have studied Classics at Stanford and have a prominent corporate attorney as a Mom, but if Shelley Smith can protect Tannehill, that's what we need.

Great run blocker that needs a little work on pass protection. i can live with that and maybe they play him between Albert and Pouncy who have excellent pass protection skills. The guy can pull and get to the next level. Exactly what we need in a guard if you ask me.

wat does that mean? what exactly is a "cerebral joe guy"?

:thanks:, DK!

Shelley appears to be the genuine article.

Hickey, FTW!

strength in run blocking liability in pass blocking. Not a guy I would want starting but its not like we may have much choice.

I think he plays in base and run heavy sets but think he might be replaced in obvious passing downs and hurry up offense till he proves himself pass blocking. Not sure I'd call that a starter but whatever.

And defiantly agree that he should be on the left side between Albert and pouncey. They can help in in passing situations and overall be there for guidance since he still don't have much in game experience. Plus maybe he can help Albert in run blocking since that's not Alberta strength. Kinda help hide each other's weaknesses

I could be wrong but teams don't rotate linemen situationally. Unless we talk about using an extra tackle in running sets

I think that there is a big chance that he's a starter. That's why there was strong demand for his services and he went fairly early in free agency.

Glad that you defiantly want him on the left lol!

Alberts blocking produced 5.7 yards per attempt for all KC's rushes. It's FH BS that leads people to believe he can't run block when actually he's been quite productive in his career at run blocking and his ability to get 2nd level run blocking in as well. We got the best LT available who excels at pass blocking but is also very good in the run game no matter what any FH blogger wants to think or spout. He's all pro for a reason dude!

Smith is the exact kind of player missing from the team last year -- someone that can start without hurting the team and if backing up will be able to step in without much drop off, if at all.

Hickey is building the OL trenches, imo. And very concerned w. upgrading the passing attack.

Hope he's right about the D moves so far.
