VIDEO: Should Tannehill start Week 1?

I mean, seriously. Not knowing what kind of offense he played in? And implying it's a spread read offense because that's what happens in the Big12? That's the type of **** I expect to see in YouTube comments, not from someone who gets paid to have an opinion on football.

Philbin was there to watch the Packers draft Aaron Rodgers in the first round and eventually reaped the benefits of letting him grow on the sidelines before going on to win the Super Bowl. Granted Green Bay was in a much better position QB wise as they had Farve but they could have gotten Rodgers on the field much earlier than the 3 years they sat him. Tannehill seems to be there in terms of knowledge of the offense but I don't think he's ready for NFL defenses. The speed, complexity and blitz packages are some of the things I feel he is wholly unready for right now, and watching tape will help with that without putting the feet to the fire.

Completely fair point.

I must point out, though, that we don't know that Rodgers would have been any worse off had he started right away. That was never an option given that Favre was there. The Tannehill situation is one that is all its own.

I agree. He's a perfect candidate for the defunct NFL Europe.
