From CNNSI:

Forget the possibility of the Vikings signing free-agent quarterback Drew Brees of the Chargers. Word within NFL circles is that Brees' surgically repaired shoulder was more damaged than many people know. Quarterbacks who might intrigue the Vikings would seem to be Aaron Brooks of the Saints and Brian Griese of the Buccaneers.

I would like it if the Vikes pulled out of the Brees sweepstakes. I am curious to know where this 'word within NFL circles' concerning the severity of his injury came from. How reliable is it? Is it more reliable than the Doctor's report which said Brees is ahead of schedule in recovery and should be 100% in time for the season?

Damn i don't like the sound of that. "More damaged than most people know?" If we are going sign Brees we better get a damn good physical ready for him.

Well I know that Daunte's knee was pretty shredded, but do you think this info about Brees shoulder is why Nick is pulling the trigger on a trade, if indeed it is us?

Makes you wonder about Brees since news of the rotator cuff surfaced.

Dr James Andrews does all the important athletes surgeries. He is a great surgeon and also has repaired a lot of people. If he sais that Brees will make a 100% recovery then that is all we need. Not the people in the "NFL circle"

How is it more Damged then we know? his doctor said he is ahead of schedule and that he should be close a 100% by next season and he could be throwing in May, according to what his doctor said

It is looking more and more like Culpepper is the new Miami QB!!

He said Brees should be able to participate in TC. Culpepper may miss half the season.

I heard the Vikes are pretty happy with Brad Johnson for now. They see him as a viable starter. I don't think they sign a QB with another injury question mark like Brees. They could draft a QB to groom behind Johnson or sign Brooks and see if a change of scenery helps him at all. If I were them a cheap Brooks to compete with Johnson would be the way I went.

Who are these people in NFL circles? Are these like the unnamed sources they talk about.

Its probably s rumor or smokescreen put out by a team that really wants him and they are trying to scare off other potential suitors. Maybe they also want to lower his value sort of like what Denver tried to do with RW.

I am going to put more stock into what Dr James Andrews, who is arguably one the premeire Orthopedic surgeons in the nation, said than rumors and heresay.

I can guarantee that whoever is behind the rumor that Drew is more damaged than people know has an ulterior motive.

All I can say is trust Nick & Mueller to perform the necessary due diligence and make the personnel moves need to upgrade our favorite team. After all, if this were WanSpiel, the Phins would have traded 2 1st rounders and Chris Chambers for Patrick Ramsey weeks ago.
